Royal Dental College Kerala Courses Offered
BDS
The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) degree program equips graduates to start a career in dentistry right away. The undergraduate dental program must be completed in four and a half years, plus a one-year required rotating internship.
The course introduces students to the basic concepts of general medicine and human anatomy. Gradually, the course gets narrowed down to subjects that are related to dentistry. With some holistic and complete education, students can become experts in the field and have successful careers in the future.Â
MDS
If you’ve already pursued an undergraduate degree in dentistry, then a specialist branch of medical research known as MDS, or Master of Dental Surgery, focuses solely on the mouth, jaw, dental region, and other facial areas are ideal for you. The course takes students through newer subjects and concepts that deepen their existing knowledge of dental education.Â
In the three years of the course, students gain in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge which opens up several opportunities in the future.Â
The following branches accept postgraduate students:
- Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics
The Department has been offering crucial services to Kerala’s remote regions. Adept philanthropic management, whose vision and principles guide the team in reaching greater heights in this field, ably supports the academic pursuit of acquiring this excellence.
- Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge
The clinical students are urged to complete as many oral prophylaxis cases as possible, comprising supragingival scaling and polishing, with thorough case documentation and care. Additionally, students receive training in doing unique root surgery and curettage cases.
- Periodontology and Implantology
The inspectors noted that the Department was a well-run and well-maintained department and that it had completed all of the prerequisites for its post-graduate certification without any noncompliance on the first try.
- Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics

- Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry
The department’s competence includes managing pediatric patients with proper behavior-shaping tactics, which limits the need for pharmacological or sedative methods. The goal is to keep the clinical and educational sides of the field well-balanced.
- Oral Pathology and Microbiology
The department’s principal goal is to advance oral and maxillofacial pathology as a field of dentistry and pathology; to develop interaction and cooperation with other medical professionals; and to work with labs, hospitals, and professional organizations.
