At present, there are no private dental colleges in Assam. There are a total of 10 seats offered by RDC Guwahati, spread across courses and modules as follows:

Note:

DME Assam: Eligibility Criteria for MDS Admission
NEET-MDS Qualification
- Candidates must qualify for the NEET-MDS entrance exam conducted by NBEMS to be eligible.
- After the entrance exam, all candidates must participate in the Assam MEET MDS Counselling, conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education, Assam.
- Completion of a one-year internship is mandatory for aspiring students.

Dental Council Registration
- Candidates must be registered with either the DCI or a State Dental Council by the time of the first counselling round.

NEET MDS Admission in Assam
Admissions for the MDS course can be gained through meeting the minimum qualifying/eligibility criteria mentioned before. Below is the NEET MDS cutoff percentile and 2024 score for comparison.

DME Assam: Counselling process for MDS
A candidate can visit the official portal of the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) Assam to register for NEET MDS Assam State Counselling.
Assam NEET MDS Counselling process
The entire process of counselling can be explained in the following steps:
Step 1: Online Registration
Admission seekers can apply online by visiting the website https://dme.assam.gov.in/.
–> For registration, candidates must use their NEET MDS roll number and email ID registered with All India NEET MDS and follow the on-screen instructions.
–> The candidate’s AI-NEET-MDS registration details will be displayed.
–> Exam-qualified applicants must make an online payment. An SMS will be sent to their registered mobile number (used for AI-NEET-MDS registration) to confirm successful registration. (Please remember the password created during registration, as it will be needed later.)
–> After successful payment, candidates will receive a transaction and registration number on their registered mobile number.
Step 2: Online Security Money Payment Process
–> Candidates willing to attend the counselling process to secure an MDS seat in their desired Dental College must pay the prescribed security money.
–> After paying the security deposit and once the state merit list is declared, the online seat choice-filling option will be available as per the provided schedule.
–> Candidates can print their online payment receipt.
Step 3: Merit Declaration
–> The State merit list is prepared based on the All India NEET-PG ranking.
–> The final merit list will be published as per the provisions on the official website.
Step 4: Online Choice Filling
On the DME Assam website, candidates must select the “Choice filling” option.
Choice filling Procedure:
–> Login using the NEET roll number and password created during registration.
–> The choice filling can be done in several sessions, but candidates must save and continue; otherwise, they will lose their work.
–> Choice filling is not complete until it is finally submitted and locked. No changes will be allowed after locking.
–> After the choice-filling deadline passes, the seat allotment list will be declared online.
Step 5: Seat Allotment
–> The candidate’s seat allotment status will be displayed on the website login to check it.
–> If the candidate accepts the allotted seat but does not join or resigns after joining, they will remain eligible for the second round of counselling but will forfeit their security deposit.
–> If the candidates join the allotted college, they can still participate in the second round of counselling. If their seat is upgraded, the previous allotment will be automatically cancelled.
–> Seat allotment is conducted online based on merit and candidate preferences.
Important Note:
- Physically disabled candidates must be physically present before the medical board on the dates specified on the DME website.
- Reserved category candidates will be given admission as per the rules of the state government, applicable on the date of counselling.
- OBC candidates covered by the general merit list will not be entitled to category-based benefits.
Rules to follow during the allotment process:
- Candidates who fail to produce the required original documents at the time of admission will not be allowed to proceed forward.
- Any Concealment or falsification of information discovered at the time of admission or during the course of study will lead to legal action and cancellation of the candidate’s seat.
- Candidates’ identities will be verified at the time of admission. Any mismatch will be considered fraudulent, leading to the cancellation of the candidature. Additional legal action would be taken against such candidates.
- A candidate who does not participate in online counselling or fails to join their allotted seat by the due date will forfeit their right of admission.
- Once a candidate exercises an option during the online counselling, the option cannot be changed/altered under any circumstances.
- No request for re-allotment of seats from the first and second rounds will be entertained.
Documents Required for MDS Admission in Assam
- NEET MDS scorecard.
- NEET MDS Admit card.
- Marksheet for all 3 years of BDS examinations.
- Qualifying examination certificate, i.e. BDS Degree Certificate provided by the DCI (permanent or provisional).
- Internship completion certificate issued by the Head of the Institution where the year took place.
- Proof of Birth (10th standard certificate or birth certificate).
- Valid Government Identity proofs – Driving Licence, PAN Card, Voter ID, Passport or Aadhar Card.
- SC/ST/OBS certificate, if applicable.
Government Dental Colleges in Assam
- For MDS, the only college available in Assam is the Regional Dental College in Guwahati.
Private Dental Colleges in Assam
- There are no private dental colleges in Assam.
