The top five states with the highest number of MBBS seats in India are Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. Karnataka has 51 government medical colleges offering 9,450 seats and 22 private/deemed colleges offering 3,500 seats, totalling 12,950 seats. Uttar Pradesh has 41 government colleges with 6,800 seats and 45 private/deemed colleges with 5,475 seats, totalling 12,275 seats. Maharashtra has 38 government colleges with 5,820 seats and 42 private/deemed colleges with 6,250 seats, totalling 12,070 seats. Tamil Nadu has 37 government colleges with 6,600 seats and 40 private/deemed colleges with 5,450 seats, totalling 12,050 seats.
