Welcome to another detailed post about MDS admission. I am Dr. Pratiksha Gupta, a renowned Senior Quality & Research Expert at CareerMudhra. Today, I will give you the complete information about MDS admission in Delhi.
If you want to take MDS admission in private dental colleges in Delhi, then you must qualify for the NEET-MDS entrance exam. I used to get a lot of calls from students who were not qualified in NEET and wanted to be admitted to MDS.
If you have missed the qualification marks by a few numbers, then I would advise you to wait till the last moment of counseling. I have seen that the cut-off marks are reduced when the seats are vacant. 😀
Don’t lose hope!

The Uttar Pradesh NEET MDS Counselling process is organized by the Directorate General of Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh (UPDGME). Below is a step-by-step guide to help you understand the process clearly:
1. Online Registration
Candidates must first register online through the official website: https://upneet.gov.in/.
You need to fill in personal, academic, and NEET-MDS exam details — exactly as you submitted during NEET registration. Once completed, save a copy of the submitted form for future reference.
2. Registration Fees
After filling out the registration form, you must pay the non-refundable registration fee online.
Fee: ₹3,000/- for all categories.
Save and print the payment receipt, as it will be required during document verification.
3. Security Deposit
To participate in the choice-filling and seat allotment, a refundable security deposit must be paid:
₹30,000/- for candidates applying to Government Dental Colleges only.
₹1,00,000/- for candidates applying to both Government & Private Dental Colleges.
The deposit is refunded after counseling or adjusted against the first-year tuition fee if a seat is allotted and accepted.
4. Merit List
Once the registration and payment period concludes, UPDGME will release a state merit list of eligible candidates.
This list is prepared based on your NEET-MDS rank and verification of the information submitted during registration.
5. Choice Filling and Choice Locking
Candidates can log in and select their preferred branches and colleges from the available seat matrix.
You are advised to carefully research and prioritize your choices before locking them, as locked choices cannot be edited.
6. Seat Allotment and Result
Post choice locking, UPDGME will declare the Seat Allotment Results online.
If allotted a seat, you must download the Allotment Letter from your candidate login portal.
7. Document Verification
Selected candidates must report to the assigned Nodal Verification Center with original documents, including the payment receipts and a medical fitness certificate.
Verification will confirm your eligibility and the accuracy of your provided details.
Note: Seat cancellation, if needed, must be done in person at the nodal center to be eligible for subsequent rounds.
8. Reporting to Allotted College
After successful verification, candidates must report to the allotted college within the specified deadline for final admission formalities like fee payment and document submission.
Congratulations — you’re now on your way to pursuing MDS in Uttar Pradesh!

MDS Fee Structure in Colleges in Delhi NCR
I will write about the fee structure first, as all the students want to know about this first. I will explain eligibility, admission procedures, etc in the next sub-heading.
I know a few colleges in this area that are good and many colleges that are not up to the mark. Here, I will be telling you about the fee structure of good colleges only.
MDS Tuition fees in Delhi
These are the approximate fee structures for MDS dental colleges in Delhi NCR. I will list the fee structure department-wise below:
Course Type | Fees Per Year |
MDS in Endodontics | Rs. 5.75 – Rs. 8 Lakhs/year. |
MDS in Orthodontics | Rs. 5.75 – Rs. 8 Lakhs/year. |
MDS in Oral Surgery | Rs. 5.75 – Rs. 8 Lakhs/year. |
MDS in Prosthodontics | Rs. 4 – Rs. 6 Lakhs/year. |
MDS in Pedodontics | Rs. 4 – Rs. 5 Lakhs/year. |
MDS in Periodontics | Rs. 3.5 – Rs. 4 Lakhs/year. |
MDS in Oral Medicine and Radiology | Rs. 2 – Rs. 3 Lakhs/year |
MDS in Oral Pathology | Rs. 2 – Rs. 3 Lakhs/year. |
MDS in Community | Rs 2 – Rs. 3 Lakhs/year. |
These are the approximate tuition fee ranges for MDS admission in Delhi. If interested, you can also go through my detailed post about MDS course fees in Bangalore and the general fee structure for MDS in India.
MDS Hostel Fees in Delhi
The hostel and mess fees of each college differ a lot, as colleges have many options and facilities. Still, I will give approximate hostel fees for dental colleges in Delhi NCR.
Non-AC Hostel and Mess | Starting from Rs 75,000/year. |
AC Hostel and Mess | Starting from Rs. 1.25 Lakh/year. |
These fees also include mess charges. I have also seen a few colleges that charge around Rs. 1.50 Lakhs/year for AC Hostels. 😛
MDS Admission Material Charges
If you are a student who has completed your BDS at a college in South India, you might know that most colleges charge material fees ranging from Rs. 80,000 to Rs. 1 lakh/year, depending on the college.
But, dental colleges in Delhi NCR don’t charge anything as material fees from MDS students. But it depends on how much materials you use. It will be limited in these colleges.
You can buy your own material when you need anything extra, which will cost you depending on many factors like the no. of patients, your head of the department or guide, etc.
But still, it is worth what you pay!
Why is it better to take MDS admission in Delhi NCR?
I will share what I felt, and this is my personal experience. The major reasons are listed below.
- Fee Affordability: Comparing colleges in Bangalore, Tamil Nadu, etc., the fee structure is really affordable and is worth what you pay.
- Easy Procedures: I have dealt with all the counseling procedures in India and felt that UP’s counseling procedures are simple and fast.
- Patient Flow: The patient flow to most colleges is very good, and there are colleges where the patient exposure is worst.
- Colleges: There are many colleges to choose from.
- Connectivity: Colleges in Delhi NCR won’t be very far from the Delhi International Airport.
How do you choose the best dental college for MDS admission in Delhi?
There are around 8-10 dental colleges in Delhi that provide an MDS course. However, not all colleges provide the best facilities and academics.
There is tight competition in the infrastructure and patient exposure in different colleges, and it is a bit tough to select the best one.
I would suggest you decide which department you would prefer for MDS admission in Delhi first. After you decide on the department, it would be easy to select a college.
In a few colleges, the Endo department will be good, and in other orthodontics, the department might be good. I also have complete updated information about each department in a college.
This makes it easy to guide you through the complete procedure and help you secure an MDS seat in Delhi.
In this section, I will also list a few of the major things you must keep in mind while choosing a college for MDS admission in Delhi.
Patient Exposure
There is no use in joining any college that doesn’t have good patient exposure. To be frank, I won’t stick to the patient exposure, I would say the student-patient ratio must be good.
The number of patients available for each student must be the best.
HOD and Guide
The department must have a good HOD with the courage to give you different kinds of cases. I know many colleges where patient exposure is good, but the HOD doesn’t allow students to take up all the cases. This is seen mostly in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery departments.
Fee Affordability
The top colleges in many parts of the country charge a very high fee, especially colleges in the south. You can get the best deal if you are prepared to relocate to North India.
I always focus on the Return on Investment factor. I would suggest you make a plan where you can earn back whatever you have invested within 5 years after you complete your MDS course.
There are colleges that charge hefty extra fees in the form of material fees, university fees, etc. Please do enquire about everything before joining any college.

I also wrote a post about MDS admission in Bangalore and MDS admission through management quota.
However, I would like to take this chance to highlight private dental colleges in neighboring states of Delhi as well. Various states, including Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana, share borders with Delhi and boast private dental colleges. Aside from Uttar Pradesh, students can choose from various colleges and fee structures.
For some specific branches, such as MDS in Periodontics and MDS in Pedodontics, Female students prefer Chandigarh as a favorite option to study.
Chandigarh has become the place of choice for female doctors because of its low crime rates and being the most well-planned and beautiful city. The colleges come under Baba Farid University, and the basic criteria for getting admission stay the same for admission to dental colleges here.
