Eligibility Criteria for MDS Admission in West Bengal (2025)

1. General Eligibility

• Candidates must qualify for NEET-MDS 2025 conducted by NBE.
• Applicable to State Quota, Management Quota, and NRI Quota seats in both private and government medical/dental colleges.

• Graduates from foreign institutions must have permanent registration with DCI/State Dental Council and meet domicile and nationality requirements.

4. Seat Distribution

• 50% of State Quota seats are filled via state-level online counselling.
• Reservation for In-service Candidates:
  • Medical Degree Seats: 40% of State Quota.
  • Medical Diploma Seats: 50% of State Quota.
  • Dental Degree Seats: 40% of State Quota.
  • DNB State Quota Seats: 100% reserved for in-service teachers and medical officers under WBMES/WBHS/WBPHAS/WBDES/WBDS.

5. Eligibility for Private Management Quota

• Indian Nationals, regardless of their state of BDS completion or permanent residence, can apply.

Online Registration and Application Process

1. Stages of Verification

• Candidates must provide proof of:
  • Passing from the Board of Studies (BOS) in West Bengal or a valid domicile certificate.
  • In-service documents (for in-service candidates).
• Failure to provide the required documents will lead to application rejection.

2. Post-Rejection Appeal Process

• Rejected candidates may appeal for re-initialization through the nodal officer.
• Such candidates can participate in subsequent rounds after fresh registration, fee payment, and verification.

3. Caste and Category Verification

• Candidates failing to provide valid caste documents will be considered under the Unreserved (UR) category for the entire counselling process.
• Eligibility for counselling is based on achieving the cut-off score for the changed category.
• Candidates listed as UR in the central list but holding valid State of West Bengal caste certificates can update their category to OBC-A/OBC-B for state quota.
• Candidates with SC/ST/OBC/EWS certificates from other states are treated as UR for state quota counselling.

• PwD status must be verified by IPGMER Kolkata as per the Disabilities Act, 2016.
