Hey all! Today I will be writing a post about one of my favorite dental colleges in India. Actually one of my friends had done his MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery and I will be talking about the college from the information that I got from him.

AJ Institute of Dental Sciences Mangalore Overview

AJ Institute of Dental Sciences is a brilliant multi-specialty hospital cum college which is managed by Laxmi Memorial Trust(R). This educational organization was opened by Mr.A.J.Shetty.

Objective: To Provide International Standard dental education for all students and achieve the objective of “Health for All“.

The first batch of students was enrolled in the year 2002. The campus is spread in 30 acres of land of blushy green and the coastal of Mangalore City. The college has every time bus facility to the railway station, airport and bus stand.

AJIDS has well-built buildings and blocks of the campus. The college has all the latest instruments and materials used in dentistry. The classrooms are also well made with international standards. Apart from classrooms, the college has audio-visual and seminar rooms too.

AJ Dental College is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences(RGUHS) and approved by the Dental Council of India. The institute is also approved by the Government and the Ministry of Karnataka. AJ Institute of Dental Sciences comes under the Karnataka Religious and Linguistic Minority or KRLM.

Admission Under General Merit Category:

• The admission will be done by NEET UG Exam and on the merit list.
• Eligibility for candidates is mentioned before itself.

• 10th Standard marks list or pass certificate for proof of date of birth. Original copy and 3 attested copies should be provided.
• 12th Standard or equivalent marks card and pass certificate. Original copy and 3 attested copies should be provided.
• Transfer Certificate –  Original copy and 3 attested copies should be provided.
• Conduct Certificate –  Original copy and 3 attested copies should be provided.
• Eligibility Certificate approved by RGUHS.
• Migration Certificate –  Original copy and 3 attested copies should be provided.
• Physical Fitness.
• Blood Group Certificate.
• Photographs – 5 Passport Size and 5 Stamp Size.

Admission Under NRI Quota:

• Eligibility and other details same as above.

AJ Dental College Eligibility Criteria

Bachelor of Dental Surgery(BDS):

Course Duration: 4 + 1 Year Internship

For admission towards BDS in AJ Institute of Dental Sciences, the following are the criteria:

• Candidate must pass 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
• Candidate must score at least 50% in PCB i.e Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
• The candidate must compulsorily pass English Subject during the 10+2 or equivalent examination.
• The candidate must be of at least 17 years of age during the admission procedure of that academic year.

Entrance Exam Eligibility for Admission towards BDS:

• Candidates who want to join AJ Dental College must qualify NEET(National Eligibility Entrance Test)  UG Entrance Exam of that academic year without fail.
• The qualified candidates will be informed and allotted a set according to the merit list.

Masters of Dental Surgery(MDS):

Course Duration: 3 Years

If a candidate wishes to take admission in AJ Dental College for MDS course must have the following Eligibility:

• The candidate must have a BDS Degree or Equivalent which is recognized by the Dental Council of India.
• Candidate must have attended the compulsory rotating internship after passing the final year university examination of BDS.

Entrance Exam Eligibility for Admission towards MDS:

• Candidates who are seeking admission to AJ Dental College for MDS must qualify for the NEET PG entrance exam.
• Candidates who are qualified will be listed for counseling and will be allotted a seat according to the merit list.
