BIDS was founded by Mr K. Subbarao. He is the chairman of the Educational Trust, Vignan Education Foundation which was established in the year 1991.  Dr Siri Krishna and Dr Swaira Rao are the directors of the dental college. Both the directors of the dental college BIDS are MDS in Orthodontist and MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery.

Since the college is being managed by directors who themselves are highly qualified individuals in Dentistry, their experience plays a vital role in maintaining the standard of imparting quality dental education among the students who are studying at Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences.

The trust also runs a medical college in the name of Katuri Medical College in a place called Guntur which is in the state of Andhra Pradesh. This college provides undergraduate, postgraduate, and superspeciality courses in the medical field. BSc Nursing and PBSc Nursing courses are also offered on the same campus.

This trust runs one more medical college in another country in the name of International Medical and Technical University. This college is in Dar E Salam, Tanzania. Lots of Indian students have gone there to study and this college has played a vital part in providing a platform for Indian students of going to other countries for studies.

Library

Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences has a very good and well-differentiated library for both postgraduate and undergraduate students. Together combined, the sitting capacity is of 200 students at a time. It also has a digital library and the students can access recent journals and publications. The library is on the second floor of the building.

Hostel

BIDS has hostel facilities for both boys and girls. The hostel for girls is in the same campus building whereas for boys it’s outside the campus within a walking distance. Keeping security as the main objective the hostel runs under strict timings and warden. However, the facilities are been kept taken care of at par high standards.

The hostel has vitrified tile flooring with dual and triple-sharing rooms. The food comprises of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian menu which keeps changing every month.

Students have to take special permission from the warden, principal, and written information from parents if they have to go on leave.
