BIDS was founded by Mr. K. Subbarao. He is the chairman of the Educational Trust, Vignan Education Foundation which was established in the year 1991.  Dr Siri Krishna and Dr Swaira Rao are the directors of the dental college. Both the directors of the dental college BIDS are MDS in Orthodontist and MDS in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery.

The college campus as stated is located in the central business district area of Bangalore on the main road. The college building can be noticed while crossing NIMHANS. There are 4 big buildings of modern architecture that are attached to each other. All the courses are run on this campus.

For both BDS and MDS admission, a student has to mandatorily qualify for NEET and register for counselling through KEA.

BIDS Admission Process

The admission process for Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences (BIDS) primarily involves the NEET UG exam, followed by counseling through the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA). Candidates need to pass the NEET UG exam and then participate in the KEA counseling process to get admitted.

Course Duration: 4 + 1 Year Internship

For admission towards BDS in Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences, the following are the criteria:

• Candidate must pass 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
• Candidate must score at least 50% in PCB i.e Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Masters of Dental Surgery(MDS):

Course Duration: 3 Years

If a candidate wishes to take admission in Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences for an MDS course must have the following Eligibility:

Hostel

BIDS has hostel facilities for both boys and girls. The hostel for girls is in the same campus building whereas for boys it’s outside the campus within walking distance. Keeping security as the main objective the hostel runs under strict timings and warden. However, the facilities are been taken care of at par high standards.

The hostel has vitrified tile flooring with dual and triple-sharing rooms. The food comprises both vegetarian and non-vegetarian menu which keeps changing every month.

Students have to take special permission from the warden, principal, and written information from parents if they have to go on leave.
