I had been waiting for a long time to write about one of the best dental colleges in Bangalore, Vydehi Dental College. I visited the college personally and it was a great experience seeing the quality of the infrastructure and other facilities provided by the college.
Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences and Research Centre also known as Vydehi Dental College was established in the year 2003-2004 in the city of Bangalore in the EPIP area of Whitefield. This Dental College has post-graduation or MDS in all 9 branches of Dentistry. Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences is affiliated with RGUHS and so the counseling for the seats for BDS and MDS is taken by the Karnataka Examination Authority, also known as KEA.
Eligibility Criteria
- For Applying to the Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences and Research center for admission in BDS and MDS courses a student should be Eligible in NEET.
- The student should have appeared at NEET and should have qualified for the examination by securing Minimum Eligibility marks.

Step by Step KEA Counselling Process for Admission
The different processes of document verification for different category students are there. In order to make it simple for the readers, let me narrate it in a way that no important points are missed.

The year 2020 document verification process went online for KEA.

Intake in Vydehi Dental College
Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences has 60 seats intake capacity for BDS courses and 21 seats in total for Post Graduation.
3 PG seats are available in each of Oral Surgery, Periodontics, and Community Dentistry. Whereas 2 seats of PG are available in other departments such as Endodontics, Orthodontics, Prosthodontics, Pedodontics, Oral Medicine, and Oral Pathology.

BDS Fees
The Fee for BDS as per the year 2023 batch is as follows, The Fee for Government Category seats in Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences is Rs.95,808. These category fees are for the Karnataka state domicile meritorious students who are allotted seats through KEA counseling.
The Fees for private quota seats are Rs.3.62 lakhs per year. This category of seats is open to all students from all across the country. Even Karnataka State domicile students are eligible for these category seats.
The Fees for NRI category seats and OPN category seats are the same and are Rs.3.62 lakhs per year.
Miscellaneous Fees in Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences for BDS and MDS courses.
Apart from the basic college fees, a student has to pay a separate fee like other fees for the Materials, University registration, etc. This is an Rs.88,000 one-time payment at the time of admission. Apart from this separate books and uniform fees payable, one time is Rs.50,000.
Together it constitutes a separate one-time payment of Rs.1.38 lakhs which comes over and above the normal payable fees.
On-Campus Facilities
Firstly, It is located in the heart of the city in the IT Corridor known as Whitefield. Secondly, It is on the same campus as the medical college and since the dental college Hospital and Medical College campus share the same wall, the infrastructure looks huge.
Thirdly, Because of the amount of Land this campus has, and the kind of way they are maintained, it looks like a College inside a well-maintained garden.
Fourthly, Due to its location in the busy IT Corridor, security-wise it is safe for the students.
Fifth, This college is surrounded by many good star hotels and family-business hotels to stay in. So, parents visiting students from other states can choose to stay in one of these hotels at a walkable distance from their children. This helps the parents to meet their children and come back to relax in their hotel room during their class hours.
Patient Inflow and OPD.
Patient inflow and per day new OPD is never a problem for the students of Vydehi dental college and Research Centre. Since the campus is in the heart of the Whitefield area, lots of patients from outstations and even IT Professionals are been witnessed there. The patients from this area generally visit Vydehi dental College for their Dental treatment due to the kind of good facilities over there.
Hostel and Mess Facility
Inside Campus three sharing rooms are available for the Students pursuing their BDS course at the Vydehi Institute of Dental Sciences and Research Centre. The annual Hostel Fee for BDS students is Rs 1,70,000 per annum. It includes both food and lodging. The Refundable security deposit is Rs 10000 only.
Separate Mess for both boys and girls are available on the campus itself. Both vegetarian and Non-Vegetarian Food along with North Indian and South Indian Cuisines are served in the mess of this Dental College.
Hostel Warden
Separate Boys Hostel Warden and Girls Hostel Warden are there for the students. The name of the warden for the Boys Hostel is Dr. N Jagadeesh. Professor and HOD of the Forensic Medicine Department. The name of the warden for Girls Hostel is Professor Dr. Vidya S Joshi.
Canteen Facility
There is a Mobile Food Truck on the Campus for the students and Patients inside the campus just opposite the Dental College and Medical College Building. Sometimes, the student makes use of this during their break hours in order to avoid walking to the Hostel Mess since it’s a big campus and it’s a little bit of a walk from their Academic sections.

Yes the fee structure is same for every year which is fixed by the KEA or Karnataka Examination Authority.
