The only Government college that offers the BPT course in Bangalore is the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedics. The College of Physiotherapy is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka. And it is recognized by the Government of Karnataka. It was established in 2016 with only the BPT course, but from 2022 onwards, it started offering the postgraduate degree, MPT. The college campus is located in Jayanagar, East of Bangalore. It has good communication with the city via transportation. Their mission is to give quality physiotherapy education, a systematic clinical training according to International Standards. The first 4 years are theoretical and practical study, and the latter 6 months are internship practice. The students who have passed their 12th with the science stream or have completed any equivalent vocational Physiotherapy course can apply directly to the BPT course of Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedics. . However, the college accepts students solely based on merit through government counselling.

Admission Process

The admission procedure of the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedics is not complex at all. The aspirants can easily apply to the BPT and MPT courses by following some interrelated steps. The procesess are mentioned below.

Step 1- Both online and offline admission can be taken. At first, take out the application form from the office or the website and fill it up with adequate information.

Step 2- Now submit the application form and wait for the college to publish a merit list. The college publishes the merit list solely based on the 12th board exam scores of the students.

Step 3- Once your name appears on the merit list, you will be notified about the date of document verification via sms or email.

Step 4- Appear for the document verification with all of the necessary documents. List of prescribed documents are provided by the college. Don’t forget to bring them both in originals and photocopies.

Step 5- After completion of the document verification, the college will produce a list of the selected candidates. Find your name on it.

Step 6 – Once your name is on the shortlist, the final step is to pay the fees and finalise your admission. Paying the fees will confirm your seat allotment.

Eligibility Criteria

The following are the only eligibility criteria that the students must stay mindful of.

  • Candidates should have passed the 2-year Pre-University examination conducted by the Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka State.
  • In their 12th board exam, they must have passed in subjects Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and English.
  • A candidate has to score more than 40% aggregate marks in the board exam.
  • They must be 17 years of age or above at the time of admission.

Or

  • Candidates who have completed a Pre-university course with Vocational Physiotherapy as their optional subject are also eligible for admission to the BPT course.
