The process of engineering admission in Bangalore is regulated by the Karnataka Examination Authority for KCET, Consortium of Medical Engineering Dental colleges of Karnataka for COMEDK and the colleges are approved by All India Council for Technical Education. 

In this article, I will give you the detailed information of engineering admission in Bangalore for KCET, COMEDK, for all government and private institutions.

Engineering Admission in Bangalore through KCET 2026

Engineering Admission in Bangalore is primarily through KCET. KCET admission mode is for Karnataka candidates only. Students outside Karnataka are not eligible for admission through KCET. There are 2 government engineering colleges in Bangalore. Both Engineering Government colleges in Bangalore seats are filled only by KCET admission. And a certain number of seats from private colleges are filled through KCET admission.

Eligibility Criteria for KCET Admission

It is mandatory to meet all the eligibility criteria to get Engineering admission in Bangalore through KCET admission mode. 

  • The student must be a Karnataka domicile
  • The student must pass his/her PUC II with chemistry, physics and maths. 
  • The student must secure 50% marks in PCM subjects and 45% for reserved categories. 
  • The student must pass the KCET entrance examination to get admission through KCET. 

Students who are not a Karnataka domicile and do not meet the eligibility criteria  are not eligible for admission through KCET. 

Admission Process of KCET Counselling 

Step 1: KCET Registration:

Students should register online on the KEA portal with personal details and academic details

Step 2: Document Verification:

Students should upload the required documents for verification during the counselling schedule.

Step 3: Choice Filling:

Students choose their preferred colleges and branches in order of priority.

Step 4: Seat Allotment:

KEA allots seats for the students based on KCET rank, reservation, and seat availability.

Step 5: Reporting to college:

Students should report to the allotted college with original documents and pay the fees to confirm the admission.

Engineering Admission in Bangalore through COMEDK UGET 2026

COMEDK UGET is a state level entrance examination conducted by Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka for admission to B.E./B.Tech courses in private engineering colleges in Karnataka. This entrance examination is for the students all over India to study engineering in Bangalore.

Admission Process of COMEDK 2026

Step 1: Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must complete 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects. Both Karnataka and non-Karnataka students are eligible for COMEDK counselling.

Step 2: COMEDK Registration

Students are required to apply through the COMEDK website and fill the form with required details and upload the documents for verification. 

Step 3: COMEDK Examination

COMEDK is a computer based online examination and the result will be out after the exams. 

Step 4: Centralised Counselling

COMEDK conducts centralised counselling for private engineering colleges in Bangalore and Karnataka.

Step 5: Choice filling and seat allotment:

Students should select the preferred colleges and branches based on their choice. Seat allotment is done based on the COMEDK scores. 

Step 6: Reporting to college:
