Karnataka Engineering Counselling Overview
There are two major counselling process in Karnataka Engineering. That are
KCET counselling is for filling all the seats in government engineering colleges and some part of seats in private engineering colleges. Karnataka domicile students are only eligible for KCET counselling.
COMEDK counselling is for the students all over India and a partial number of seats in private engineering colleges are filled through COMEDK counselling. Both Karnataka and Non Karnataka people are eligible for COMEDK counselling.

In this section, I will give you the eligibility criteria for Karnataka engineering counselling for both KCET and COMEDK.
Eligibility criteria for KCET Counselling 2026
- The student must be a Karnataka domicile (Domicile proof required)
- Student must have passed 2nd PUC with Physics, Chemistry and Maths
- The student should secure minimum 45% marks in 2nd PUC. (40% for reserved students)
- Students must appear for the KCET entrance exam conducted by KEA.
- If a non Karnataka student claims Karnataka reservation from the clause, should submit the necessary documents to be eligible for counselling.
Eligibility criteria for COMEDK Counselling 2026
- The student must be an Indian citizen.
- No domicile certificate is required as it is open for all candidates,
- Student must passed +2 with physics, chemistry and maths
- The pass percentage of 45% and 40% for reserved candidates is important to be eligible for COMEDK counselling’.
- Must have appeared for the COMEDK UGCET entrance exam.

Every student should check the document before the counselling and appear for document submission. If a student fails to submit the document, it leads to cancellation of a seat.

KCET and COMEDK Counselling fees
There are no separate counselling fees for both KCET and COMEDK, but students have to pay the application fee online while registration.
For KCET, students have to pay the amount of Rs.500 (for general category) and Rs.250 (for reserved categories). For COMEDK, students have to pay Rs.2000 during the registration. This fee is non refundable and students have to pay part of college fees during the counselling to confirm the seat.
