Eligibility for Rajasthan NEET MDS Counseling
The first step in the counseling process is ensuring you meet the eligibility criteria. Rajasthan follows a unique seat allocation system for both government and private colleges:
- State Quota: 50% of the total seats in government colleges are reserved for candidates who are domiciles of Rajasthan. This means only students who have a permanent address in Rajasthan are eligible for these seats.
- Private Quota: Private colleges in Rajasthan also have two types of seats:
- Government Seats: Some private colleges allocate a certain number of government seats, available exclusively for Rajasthan domiciled candidates.
- Management Seats: The remaining seats are for management quota, and students from outside Rajasthan can apply for these.
- After the second round of counseling, some government seats in private colleges may be converted to management seats if not filled by domicile candidates. This opens up opportunities for out-of-state candidates to apply for these seats.
Steps in the Rajasthan NEET MDS Counseling Process
Rajasthan MDS Counseling follows a systematic process, which is detailed as follows:
Step 1: Registration
- Website: Candidates must visit the official website for Rajasthan MDS Counseling: Raj MDS N2024.
- Register by filling in personal details such as name, contact information, NEET score, and essential qualifications.
Step 2: Payment of Application and Security Fees
- Application Fee:
- ₹4,000 for General category candidates.
- ₹3,000 for SC, ST, and OBC candidates.
- Security Deposit: ₹25,000, which is refundable at the end of the course if the candidate adheres to the terms and conditions.
Step 3: Merit List and Choice Filling
After completing the registration and payment, a provisional merit list will be published. Based on this list, candidates can participate in choice filling for the available MDS seats.
Step 4: Document Verification
Candidates must report to the document verification center to confirm their seat allocation. A set of documents will be required for verification, including:
- NEET scorecard.
- Address proof (for domicile).
- Academic qualifications and certificates.
Step 5: Seat Allotment and Admission
After the choice filling and document verification, the final seat allotment will be published. Candidates who are allotted seats must report to the college within the stipulated time to complete the admission process.

Candidates are required to pay a security deposit of ₹25,000, which is standard across both government and private seats. This amount is refundable, subject to terms and conditions. However, if a candidate discontinues the course midway, they must pay a penalty of ₹10 lakh.
Shifting and Mop-Up Round
- Mop-Up Round: If you are unable to secure a seat in the first or second round, you can participate in the mop-up round. After this round, some government seats in private colleges are de-reserved and converted into management quota seats, providing more opportunities for candidates to secure admission.
- Stray Round: If you are allotted a seat during the stray or mop-up round and do not take it, you will be debarred from participating in next year’s counseling. So, it is important to commit only if you are sure about accepting the allotted seat.
Fee Structure of MDS Courses in Rajasthan
The fee structure for MDS courses in Rajasthan varies between government and private colleges. While the specific details will be covered in a follow-up article, it is important to note that government colleges usually have a lower fee compared to private colleges. The cost also depends on the specific branch of MDS you are pursuing.
Important Terms and Conditions
- Bond Agreement: Candidates must sign a bond agreement to ensure that they complete the MDS course once they accept the seat. If a student leaves the course midway, they must pay a penalty of ₹10 lakh.
- Debarring Clause: If a candidate is allotted a seat in the stray or mop-up round and chooses not to take it, they will be disqualified from participating in Rajasthan MDS Counseling for the next year.
