Breakdown of Questions in NEET UG 2025
The entire question paper will be divided into 2 sections-
Physics and Chemistry Sections
Physics and Chemistry sections of the question paper will have 45 questions per subject and each question will carry 4 marks. Both these subjects carry equal weightage in The NEET UG 2025 question paper.
Zoology and Botany Sections
While the Biology section of the question paper will have 90 questions, which is equal to the number of questions in Physics and Chemistry combined, the questions in this section will be divided into two types – Zoology and Botany. The Biology section of the question paper will also follow the same marks per question ratio as that of the Physics and Chemistry sections, i.e., 4 marks per question.
Overall, the NEET UG 2025 Question paper will have 180 questions from the three subjects, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and each question will carry 4 marks. This gives us a total of 720 marks, which is also the maximum marks that can be scored in NEET UG 2025.

Few Important Points
- Question Type: MCQs (Multiple Choice Questions) with four options and one correct/best option.
- Exam Duration: 3 hours (02:00 P.M. – 05:00 P.M.)
- NEET UG 2025 will follow the pre-COVID pattern. The exam will consist of 180 compulsory questions to be answered in 180 minutes.
Marking Scheme
The marking system follows a structured approach:
- Correct answer: +4 marks
- Incorrect answer: -1 mark (negative marking)
- Unanswered question: 0 marks
In the event of ambiguity in the question paper, the following rules will be applied:
- If more than one option is correct, candidates marking any of the correct options will receive +4 marks.
- If all options are correct, +4 marks will be awarded to all candidates who attempted the question.
- If a question is deemed incorrect or dropped, all candidates, whether they attempted the question or not, will be given +4 marks.
Mode of Examination
NEET (UG) 2025 will be conducted in the pen-and-paper mode as per the previous year’s format. The exam will be held on a single day across multiple centers nationwide.
Duration & Special Provisions for PwBD Candidates
The standard duration of the exam is three hours (180 minutes). However, candidates with benchmark disabilities, as per the RPwD Act, 2016, are eligible for a compensatory time of one hour, making their total exam duration four hours (240 minutes). These candidates may also avail the scribe facility if certified by a government medical authority.
Medium of Examination
In alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP), NEET (UG) 2025 will be conducted in 13 languages, allowing candidates to select their preferred medium during application submission. The available languages are:

Candidates selecting English will receive the question paper exclusively in English. Those opting for Hindi or a regional language will receive bilingual test booklets, with English alongside the selected language. In case of any discrepancies in translation, the English version will be considered final.
Important Notes
- The choice of the question paper’s language must be made during the application process and cannot be changed later.
- Candidates qualifying for NEET (UG) 2025 will be eligible for All India Quota (AIQ) seats and state government quotas, irrespective of the medium of examination, provided they meet other eligibility criteria.
