Divya Jyothi College of Dental Science situated in UP is one of the DCI-recognized dental colleges in Uttar Pradesh. The college is situated on a huge campus with around 70 acres of land. The campus is filled with lush greenery.

The courses provided by the college include BDS and MDS. The intake of BDS is 100 every year. For MDS there are 9 specializations. Detailed information about each department is mentioned below. Currently, it’s the 11th batch running in the institution.

Talking the college, Divya Jyothi College of Dental Science and Research centre was started in the year 1999. The founder and chairman of the college are Ajith Singh Jassar. The college is one of the first five private colleges in Utter Pradesh.

Divya Jyothi College of dental science has worked its best to achieve in the field of dental research and thus pushing its limits to be among the Top BDS Colleges in India.

The international publications done by the institution include 539. College has got many laurels that students of the college have amassed over the years both in the national and international conferences and competitions.

Divya Jyothi College of Dental Science is the only dental college in Asia to have membership in the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry. It is the first dental college in India with an IDA student Branch and special care dentistry clinic.

FACILITIES

The campus has 75 acres of land. The facilities provided by the college include a Library. The library is multilayered with all modern collections of books. Collection of resources and innovative formation services.

The resources include dental and medical books for both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, autobiography, journals in all subjects, educational videos, newspapers, question banks for both BDS and MDS, Xerox or scanning machine, encyclopedia, etc.

Apart from this digital library with one line activity of twenty terminals.

The digital library is very useful for students and lectures. The needful collection of CD ROM, E-journals, and online journals. The digital library has 20 computers in digital sections of various departments.

All these are connected through a LAN system.

What are the circulation services?

The issue and return of books are provided from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

There won’t be an issue or return of books on Sundays and holidays.

The reference books for reading in the library are issued and returned throughout the working days.

The reference services are made in such a way that there will be both short-range services and long-range services are provided when recommended.

The dental college has 2 academic in-house journals and quarterly publications run by the students.

These soon will be available for access through a centralized student portal.

APPROVAL AND AFFILIATION OF THE COLLEGE

Talking about the approval and affiliation, the college is currently affiliated to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar University formerly Agra University which is a state university located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh India. The current vice-chancellor is Aravind Kumar Dixit.

The university is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Dental Council of India Approval: our dental college and approved and recognized by the Dental Council of India and is among the very few dental colleges in India to have 45+ MDS postgraduates seats.

Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)

The Bachelor of Dental Surgery is a five-year course with one year of compulsory rotary internship.

The college was started in the year 1999.

University affiliation

The college is affiliated with Dr. B R Ambedkar University Agra. But from the year 2022, the college is affiliated with Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University, Lucknow.

The college is approved by the Dental Council of India and the University Grants Commission (UGC).

There is a total of 100 seats that are recognized and approved.

WHAT ARE THE ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR BDS?

  • Candidate must have a minimum of 50 per cent of marks in 10th and 12th standards with physics, chemistry, and biology as subjects.
  • Candidate must have qualified NEET (National Eligibility Entrance Examination) conducted by NBE.
  • Candidates who are not qualified in the examination are not eligible to take admission.

There will be three internal exams and one university exam every year.

There will be three internal exams both theory and practically conducted by the college every year and one university exam.

In the first and second years there will be a preclinical department and in the third and final year student will get exposed to the department and take up the cases. There are separate labs and preclinical for each subject.

The posting for the third year will be in the afternoon and the posting for the final year will be during the morning hours.

Students have to complete the quota every year. Before taking up the cases they have to give discussions in each department.

Master of Dental Surgery (MDS)

The department of Oral Medicine and Radiology

The department of Oral Medicine and Radiology is mainly concerned with the health and diseases of oral and Para oral structures such as diseases of the mouth, biological and pathological spheres.

Oral Medicine and Radiology mainly deal with the diagnosis and Interpretation of radiographic imaging which is done for diagnosing and treatment planning of diseases affecting the maxillofacial region.

Oral Medicine and Radiology also deal with the diagnosis and medical management of diseases that are specific to the orofacial region.

The signs and symptoms of systemic diseases affecting our body can easily be identified in the oral cavity.

It also deals with the management of behavioural diseases, and dental treatment of medically compromised patients.

Their main objective is to diagnose and management of patients who are having medical disorders such as salivary gland, oral mucosa, orofacial pain, temporomandibular joints, etc.

WHAT ARE THE TREATMENT DONE IN THE DEPARTMENT?

  • The treatment done in the department includes treatment for premalignant lesions and conditions.
  • Treatment for OSMF (Oral Sub Mucous Fibrosis) includes Intralesional injection.
  • Vital staining and biopsy for premalignant and cancerous lesions.
  • Treatment for Temporo Mandibular Joint Disorders.
  • Extraoral radiography projections for head and neck region.
  • Treatment for Oro Facial Pain includes TENS therapy.

Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry

Department of Preventive and Community Dentistry includes preventive and community aspects, and restorative treatments.

They serve the community as a patient, not as an individual.

Department conducts dental camps and awareness programs such as oral hygiene practices, different brushing techniques, awareness camps for oral cancers, tobacco cessation programs, etc.

Their main objective is to diagnose and medical management of patients with complex medical disorders which include oral mucosa, salivary glands, orofacial pain, and temporomandibular joints.

Department of preventive and community dentistry has published international, and national publications.

The posting in preventive and community dentistry starts from the third year onwards.

Department of Prosthodontics Crown and Bridge

Department of Prosthodontics Crown and Bridge deals with restoration and maintenance of functions of the oral cavity, health of the patients, appearance of the patients, replacement of the missing teeth, and craniofacial tissues with artificial substituents.

There are varieties of treatments done in the department which include a removable partial dentures, fixed partial dentures, complete dental and esthetic rehabilitation, congenital and acquired defects, crowns, veneer, laminates, splints, bridges, dental implants, obturators, etc.

Diagnosis and medical management of patients who are having complex medical disorders, affecting the salivary glands, oral mucosa, temporomandibular joints, orofacial pain, etc.

Department of oral and maxillofacial surgery

The Department of oral and maxillofacial surgery deals with the diagnosis and treatment planning of various diseases, pathogenesis, and craniofacial pathologies of multisensory movements.

The main objective of the department is to diagnose and medical management of oral mucosa, salivary glands, temporomandibular joint disorders, and salivary gland disorders.

There are both minor and major cases done in the department.

The major cases done in the department include removal of the tumour and cyst, ridge augmentation procedures, and orthognathic surgeries which include correction of the irregularities of the jaw and alignment of the jaw. Making the correction helps for a better facial appearance.

Treatment of Maxillofacial trauma, third molar disimpaction, Space infections, TMJ ankylosis, Cleft lip, and palate, etc.

Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry

Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry deals with primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic treatment of oral health care in children and adults.

The objectives of the Department of Pedodontics and Preventive dentistry include diagnosis and medical management of patients with complex medical disorders, which involve salivary gland, oral mucosa, orofacial pain, temporomandibular joint, etc.

Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics

The Department of conservative dentistry and Endodontics deals with the preservation of teeth in the mouth, it includes the practice of operative dentistry and Endodontics and also different direct and indirect restorations.

The main is to preserve the tooth. It deals with the diagnosis and treatment of dental caries and also various techniques and procedures to restore the tooth their function and appearance.

The treatment provided includes root canal treatment, surgical endodontics, implants, bleaching, and management of traumatic teeth.

The services provided by the college include radiovisiography, 3D obturation, rotary endodontic, and Biometric material.

Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics

Department of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics deals with the treatment of misaligned teeth, prevention, interception, and correction of malocclusion.

The head of the institution is Dr. Reena Ranjith Kumar having a teaching experience of twenty years heads the department as well as the institution.
