Eligibility Criteria for BDS Admission in Himachal Pradesh

1. Eligibility for State Quota Seats:
   1. Candidates can only apply online for admission to BDS courses through centralized counseling at Government Medical/Dental Colleges, including State Quota Seats in Private Unaided Dental Colleges, if they have passed the NEET-UG-2025 exam.
   2. Bonafide Himachali Students or the children of Bonafide Himachali, irrespective of their place of schooling.
   3. Children whose parents work for the Central Government but are not bona fide Himachalis must meet the following requirements:
      1. The worker must have been employed by the State of Himachal Pradesh for a continuous two years.
      2. The student must have completed grades 10+1 and 10+2 in accredited schools or colleges in the state of Himachal Pradesh that are associated with the ICSE, CBSE, or HPBOSE.

2. Eligibility for Management Quota Seats:
   1. The University would draw qualified NEET-UG-2025 students based on common merit to fill the Management Quota Seats in Private Unaided Medical/Dental Colleges in the State of Himachal Pradesh; there will be no requirement of a Bonafide Himachali.

3. General Eligibility and Requirements
   1. The candidate must have earned at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (or Biotechnology) for the general category in the 10+2 exam (or its equivalent).
   2. For the General-PH category, an aggregate score of 45% is needed. 
   3. Reserved groups (SC, ST, and OBC) must receive a minimum of 40% of the total marks.
   4. On or before December 31st of the year of admission, the applicant must have reached the age of 17.

BDS Admission Process in Himachal Pradesh

Step 1: Online Registration at www.amruhp.ac.in :

• Candidates are required to visit www.amruhp.ac.in  and apply for Admission to BDS.
• Candidates are required to enter all the details like: Mobile Number and Email ID, and after verification, they will be registered.

The fee for the BDS online application form is Rs. 2000/- for General/NRI/OBC and  Other Categories and Rs. 1000/- for SC/ST/PwD Categories. 

Step 3: Information Filling

Filling of Personal Details along with uploading of Photo and Signature. You also need to fill Address details.

Step 4: Filling of Qualification details

Candidates are required to fill up all the qualification details and marks to confirm their eligibility.

Step 5: NEET UG 2025 Entrance Details

Details should be exactly matched with the NEET UG 2025 details.

Step 6: Uploading relevant Documents

Document format should be in PDF, JPG, JPEG, or PNG only.

BDS Admission in Himachal Pradesh Counselling Authority

For admission to both government and private dental colleges in Himachal Pradesh, BDS  counseling is handled by the Atal Medical and Research University (AMRU).  The counseling procedure is carried out by AMRU using the NEET score.

Counselling Process for BDS Admission in Himachal Pradesh

Completion of Online Registration and Application allows for the provisional allocation of available seats based on merit, college preferences, and course choices.

1. After the merit rank assigned in the combined and category-wise merit list of the eligible candidates based on the All India Merit of NEET-UG-2025 is shown, the applicants will have the chance to fill up their choices/preferences of courses, colleges, and quota.

2. The Common/Centralized Counseling Committee, which was established by the Government of Himachal Pradesh and is chaired by the Director of Medical Education & Research, H.P. Shimla, will handle online allocation for the admissions process to Government and Private Medical/Dental Colleges (State & Management Quota) within the allotted time frame.

3. After seats are provisionally allocated during the first and subsequent rounds of counseling, candidates can download Provisional Allotment Letters from the university website after logging in and reporting to the college principal. They must also bring a printout of the online application form confirmation copy and photocopies of all required documents.

4. After the completion of Round 1 of counseling, candidates are required to register for Round 2 of counseling on the official website of the university.

5. If candidates did not get a seat in the 1 or 2 rounds of counseling, they are required to register again for Round 3 of counseling on the official website of the university.  

BDS Admission in Himachal Pradesh Fees

In Himachal Pradesh, the BDS fee structure varies based on the type of quota—State Quota, Management Quota, and NRI Quota.

For the State Quota, private dental colleges like Bhojia Dental College (Nalagarh), Himachal Dental College (Sunder Nagar), Himachal Institute of Dental Sciences (Poanta Sahib), and M.N.D.A.V. Dental College (Solan) charge an annual tuition fee of Rs. 1,43,387, with an additional fee of Rs. 58,000. In contrast, H.P. Government Dental College & Hospital, Shimla charges a much lower State Quota fee, with a tuition fee of Rs. 30,000 and a miscellaneous fee of Rs. 15,000 per year.

Under the Management Quota, all the mentioned private colleges have a uniform annual fee of Rs. 2,50,000.

For the NRI Quota, only H.P. Government Dental College, Shimla offers seats, with a fee of $10,000 per year.
