MBBS admission in Tamil Nadu is primarily conducted through the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG), which is a mandatory requirement for all medical aspirants in India. The admission process is managed by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Tamil Nadu. Candidates must qualify NEET with the minimum required percentile to be eligible for the counseling process. The state offers medical seats under two categories – Government quota (85% of state seats) and All India Quota (15% of total seats), the latter of which is managed by the Medical Counseling Committee (MCC).MBBS Admission in Tamil Nadu
Eligibility Criteria for MBBS in Tamil Nadu
- Candidates should be Citizen of India.
- Non-Resident of India (N.R.I) and Persons of Indian Origin (P.I.O) / Overseas Citizen of India (O.C.I) are also eligible for admission in Medical Colleges subject to the rules and regulations framed by the Government of Tamil Nadu / Government of India. Persons of Indian Origin (P.I.O) / Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) will be considered only for the NRI seats as per Gazette of India, Dated.04.03.2021. They will not be eligible for any kind of reservation.
- To be eligible for admission to the MBBS a candidate must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology / Biology / Bio-technology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50%
- Candidates should have completed 17 years of age at the time of admission or should have completed 17 years on or before 31st December of this year 2024. MBBS Admission in Tamil Nadu.
Admissions Procedure:
- NEET-UG Registration: Applicants should score the required marks on the NEET-UG to be eligible.
- Provisional Merit List: It is created by using all available criteria on reservation, NEET scores, and eligibility.
