  1. Applicants should have qualified NEET 2024 which is mandatory, as without NEET MBBS admission is not possible.
  2. Fulfillment of the minimum NEET 2024 cutoff percentile is essential for all applicants.
  3. Candidates must have completed their 10, +2 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB), along with English as a compulsory subject. For general candidates, a minimum of 50% in PCB is required, whereas for SC/ST candidates, the minimum percentage is 40%.
  4. Only Indian citizens are eligible for all seats except for those designated for NRI quota.
  5. Candidates should have attained a minimum age of 17 years by December 31st of the academic year for admission.

MBBS Admission Process in Karnataka 2024

Karnataka is an open state for MBBS admission. Both students from Karnataka and other states can be admitted to private medical colleges and private deemed universities in Karnataka. However, the process of allotment, counseling authority, and the category of seats will differ.

There are 70 medical colleges in Karnataka with a total of 11700 seats in govt, private & deemed universities. These 11700 seats are counselled by All India Counselling MCC & Karnataka State Counselling (KEA).

Under All India counseling, 15% of seats of Govt colleges will come. Under Karnataka State counseling, 85% of seats in government colleges & 100% seats in private colleges.

The following is information about the counseling process held in Karnataka state for both deemed and private medical colleges. Each step involved in the process is clearly explained below to give you a clear understanding of the process.

MBBS Admission in Karnataka for Deemed Medical Colleges: Counselling process

Medical Counseling Committee (MCC):

MCC conducts counselling process for 15% All India Quota seats MBBS/ BDS Seats of States (participation of the Union Territory of J&K is subject to their contribution of seats), 100%MBBS/ BDS Seats of BHU, 100% MBBS Seats of AIIMS across India, 100% JIPMER seats (Puducherry/ Karaikal), 100% AMU 85% of State Quota seats of DU/ I.P University (VMMC/ ABVIMS/ESIC Dental), 100% -Faculty of Dentistry (Jamia Milia Islamia) along with 5% internal Quota of Jamia students 15% IP quota seats of ESIC and seats in deemed universities in India.

For MBBS admission in Deemed Medical Colleges in Karnataka, the students have to register and appear for counselling conducted by MCC. MBBS admission process for other state students is the same for Deemed medical colleges in Karnataka.

Step-by-Step Procedure for NEET UG Counselling 2024 at Deemed Medical Colleges in Karnataka

The following are the steps involved in the NEET UG counselling procedure for deemed medical colleges in Karnataka which the respective candidates will have to follow without skipping any step. As every step plays an essential role for the smooth conduct of the counselling and securing the MBBS seat.

Step 1 – New User Registration

– Candidates need to click on the link given to register for NEET UG counselling 2024. Submit details like the stream (Medical/Dental), NEET UG roll no., application no., candidate’s name, birth date, security pin etc and click on ‘Submit’ button.
– The agreement page will be displayed on the screen and aspirants will have an option to click on ‘I Agree’ or ‘I Don’t Agree’.
– If the candidates want to continue with the application process, then they will be required to click on ‘I Agree’ button. The login credentials will reflect on the screen.
– Candidates will now be asked to take a note of the login credentials and the password which should be protected with a security question.

Step 2 – Submission of Personal Details

– In this step of NEET UG counseling 2024, candidates will be required to submit details like the mother’s name, father’s name, and address details of the candidate. Click on the ‘Submit’ button.
– It must be noted that these details cannot be changed by the candidates afterward. Therefore, the information provided should be similar to the documents candidates will submit at the time of admission.

Step 3 – Payment for Counselling

– Candidates will be required to submit a non-refundable registration fee and refundable tuition fee. The fees can be paid through an online medium like Credit/Card/Debit Card/Net Banking. The table below will acquaint candidates with the amount of fee that they will be required to submit-
Non-Refundable registration fee: The non-refundable registration fee for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) and Central Universities is INR 1,000 for UR (Unreserved) candidates. For other categories, the registration fee is assumed to be INR 500. For Deemed Universities, the non-refundable registration fee for all categories is INR 5,000.
Refundable Tuition Fee: The refundable tuition fee for 15% AIQ and Central Universities is INR 10,000 for UR candidates, while for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates, it is INR 5,000. In Deemed Universities, the refundable tuition fee for all categories is INR 2,00,000.

Step 4 – Registration Slip

– After the successful submission of details, the registration slip will be displayed on the screen, which can be printed as it will be useful in the further admission process. To continue with the process, click on the ‘Login’ button.

Step 5 – Available Choices

– The ‘Available Choices’ link will be enabled as and when the counseling process starts.
– On the left side of the screen, the available choices will be displayed on the screen with the Fee per annum.
– Candidates who will submit the fees for both 15% AIQ/Central Universities and Deemed Universities will be eligible to apply for both the category of seats.

Step 6 – Selecting the choices

– Candidates need to click on the ‘+’ button available with each preference to select the choices. As the candidates select a particular preference, the choices will be transferred from the left-hand side of the screen to the right-hand side.
– After selecting choices, candidates will be asked to click on the ‘Save & Continue’ button to save and continue with the process or the ‘Save & Go to Home Page’ button to save the options and exit.
– Candidates can move up, move down, and delete the choices. The upper arrow and the down arrow will move the choice up or down, respectively, by one step.
– The delete option will delete the selected choice. Aspirants can also click on a selected choice and drag it to a particular choice to interchange the choices.

Step 7 – Choice Locking

– It is not mandatory to lock the choices for the final submission of preferences in NEET UG 2024 counseling. The choices can be modified until they are locked. If in case, candidates do not lock the choices, then the filled choices will be considered final and will automatically get locked on the notified date.

Step 8 – Take a Printout

– It is advisable to take a printout of the filled choices as it could be beneficial for candidates in the further NEET UG counseling process.
– If the candidates have not locked their choices, then they can also take a printout of the choice preferences after the choice-locking process is over.

Step 9 – Seat Allotment

– After every round of counseling, the seat allotment result will be declared. NEET counseling results, released in the form of the seat allotment list and seat allotment letter.
– Candidates can check their name, roll no., allotted category, candidates’ category, allotted college, quota, and course in the NEET seat allotment list.
– The seat allotment letter is an important document that needs to be submitted at the time of reporting to the allotted college along with other mandatory documents.

Step 10 – Reporting to the Allotted College

– Candidates should report to the allotted college to complete the admission formalities.

Karnataka MBBS Registration 2024 – KEA Counselling Process

Candidates eligible for NEET and interested in participating in Karnataka NEET counselling must compulsorily register online using the following link: kea.kar.nic.in 2024 registration. Additionally, they must produce the relevant documents for verification. This is required to seek admission to medical and dental courses in 2024.

A student has to fill in the required details on the website and pay the required registration fees. After registration , the student will get a USERID, which can also be called as registration number or application number. The student will also get the SMS of the registration number in the mobile number mentioned. 

Post registration, a student has to log in with the credentials, create a new password, and fill in the other required details. It is advisable to keep a scanned image of the left-hand thumb impression, Signature, PDF copy of the NEET score card NEET admit card, and 10th and 12th marks card.

MBBS Admission in Karnataka Private College: Options Entry By Candidates

In order to take MBBS admission in Karnataka private medical colleges, both the students who are from Karnataka and students who are from other states of India have to do option entry.

The fee structure of each of the medical colleges is mentioned while doing the option entry. 

In Karnataka state, the options can be entered only once and can be altered or deleted in further rounds of counseling but cannot be added. It means that the options entered once will only be considered for the allotment of seats.

So, for MBBS admission in Karnataka, the option entry has to be done very judiciously and cautiously.

MBBS Admission in Karnataka Private College : NEET UG counseling process for private medical colleges under RGUHS

Academic Qualification and Eligibility Clauses:

Since Karnataka is a state which has MBBS seats reserved in lots of categories, there are different clauses prescribed. All the students come under one or the other clause. This clause has to be mentioned while filling up the KEA form, and the same will be verified during the document verification.

For MBBS admission in Karnataka for other state students who have qualified NEET 2024 and have done their 10th and 12th from any recognized boards in India in their respective states, the students will fall under ‘Clause Y’. 

Similarly, a foreign category student will fall under ‘Clause Z’. 

A student who has completed his Higher Secondary from any other state but has an NRI sponsorship will fall under clause Y.

One main thing to note is that any students from states other than Karnataka who has qualified in NEET under category such as OBC, ST, or SC can be admission in private medical colleges whose counseling is conducted by KEA. But will not be able to avail the category previliage.

Post allotment procedure for MBBS admission in Karnataka 2024

There would be a minimum of 4 rounds of counseling conducted by KEA for MBBS admission in Karnataka Private colleges.

The post allotment process differs for different categories of seats allotted. The NRI category students or the higher fee students have to pay the fees and submit the original documents in the respective colleges. In contrast, the students who have been allotted seats in the P category might have to submit the documents in the KEA counseling center.

A student who has been allotted a seat in the first round but has not completed the reporting formalities will have another opportunity to participate in the second round of counseling. However, if the candidate fails to complete the reporting formalities after this round as well, they will be barred from participating in further rounds of counseling. Candidates should note that these rules may differ from year to year.

Also, a student who has not been allotted an MBBS seat in any category in Karnataka and wishes to participate in BDS allotment can be done. Whereas, a student who has been allotted a BDS seat in Karnataka but wishes to participate in further rounds for MBBS seats is eligible for participation.

Documents Required for MBBS Admission in Karnataka 2024

Original documents (along with attested photocopies of documents) for admission to undergraduate medical courses for admission to 15% of total seats on an All-India basis required at the time of joining an allotted Medical / Dental College are as mentioned below:

  • NEET 2024 Admit Cards of Exam issued by NTA.
  • NEET 2024 Result/ Rank letter issued by NTA.
  • Date of Birth Certificate (if Matric Certificate does not bear the same)
  • Class 10th Certificate
  • Class 10+2 Certificate (Vi). Class 10+2 Marks Sheet
