FAQs
What is deemed university in NEET PG?
A deemed university is a higher education institution in India that the University Grants Commission (UGC) grants “Deemed to be University” status under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
Most deemed universities are private institutions regulated by government authorities. They have autonomy to set their own curriculum, fee structure, and admission policies within the guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC).
These universities offer MD, MS, and PG Diploma seats through NEET PG, and admission is only possible through this exam. Deemed universities participate in All India NEET PG counselling conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). Candidates must choose these colleges during MCC counselling to secure admission. Generally, deemed universities charge higher tuition fees compared to government medical colleges.
