Eligibility Criteria for MBBS Admission in Top Private Medical Colleges in Karnataka – 2024

NEET UG

Qualifying NEET is a must to study medicine in India. It is the only criteria for admission to any medical course.

To get MBBS admission in Rajiv Gandhi University colleges or private medical universities in Karnataka, you must qualify NEET.

No NEET eligibility means you cannot take medical admission.

In 2023 NEET, the minimum eligibility score was:

  • 720 to 137 for general/non-Karnataka students
  • 136 to 107 for reserved category Karnataka students

Without qualifying NEET, you are not eligible for medical admission in India.

Eligibility Criteria for PG Medical admission in Top Private Medical Colleges in Karnataka -2024

NEET PG

To study any postgraduate medical course in India, securing minimum qualifying marks in NEET-PG is mandatory. MBBS graduates who completed internship must qualify NEET-PG for admission to PG medical courses in Karnataka colleges.

Even for management quota seats, qualifying NEET-PG is required.

NEET-PG eligibility is compulsory for direct admission under NRI quota as well.

For PG medical admission in any private medical college under KEA or private deemed universities, an MBBS graduate must have NEET-PG eligibility.

In NEET PG 2023, the minimum eligibility score was:

  • 291 for general category
  • 257 for OBC/ST/SC
  • 274 for General-PH

List of Private Medical Colleges in Karnataka 2024

Here in this part of the article, I will update you about the details of private medical colleges in Karnataka. Here I will also describe the college’s area-wise so that a student can be aware of all the private medical colleges in each of the locations instead of searching it separately.

There are in total 41 Private medical colleges in Karnataka (Including St Johns Medical College). The total Intake of the MBBS seats in these colleges combined comes to around 6445. I will mention brief detail about each medical college, its Intake capacity, their facilities.

Starting from Gulbarga which is at an overnight journey from Bangalore via bus, train. There are two Private medical colleges in Gulbarga, MRMC & KBN.

1. MRMC in Gulbarga / MR Medical College / Mahadevappa Rampure Medical College

MRMC Medical College Gulbarga

The college was established in the year of 1963. It is the second oldest private medical college in India to get recognition after KMC Manipal. The college has two teaching hospitals, Sangmeshwara Hospital and Basaveshwar Hospital. 

The Institution runs an 850 bedded super specialty Hospital on its campus. The Hospital’s architecture is not so modern which is obvious because of its early establishment. The OPD is full of patients every day like a government general hospital. The patients mostly cater from the same area and its neighboring rural areas.

The medical college has 150 intakes for MBBS and runs post-graduation programs in 18 different preclinical, paraclinical, and clinical branches.

The student crowd caters to the states of Sikkim, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerela, Gujrat, and Rajasthan. It is also among the main choice of the students of Karnataka.

The college has a well-established Library and spends approximately 20 lakhs per annum on books.

The Boys and Girls hostel has a mess facility with both north Indian and south Indian food.

The college is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Sciences and is recognized by the Medical Council of India.

The college is approximately 551 km from Bangalore and the nearest airport would be Hyderabad.

The NRI quota fee for MBBS seats per annum is 40 Lakhs 12 Thousand 4 Hundred and 50 payable for 4.5 years. The Fee for the 5% Q quota seats is also the same.

2. Khaja Bandanawaz University-Faculty of Medical Sciences 

There is one more private medical college in Gulbarga. It is also known as KBN Gulbarga. It was established in the year 2000. This Medical College has a 500 bedded super specialty Hospital. 

It has an intake of 100 students for MBBS and 32 Students for post-graduation in various disciplines. The college is a Muslim religious minority institution and has a comparatively less fee structure for the NRI and Q quota seat matrix. 

The college was granted university status in the year 2018-2019.

Although it’s a minority college, students of all religions enjoy the benefits of studying in this college. The college has a well-equipped library as well.

Separate Hostel facilities are available for both boys and girls.

The NRI quota fee for MBBS seats and Q quota Fees per annum is 32 Lakhs 15 Thousand 5 Hundred payable for 4.5 years.

This college has a comparatively higher fee structure for the P Quota Seats as well. The fee payable per annum for P quota seats is 16 Lakhs 30 Thousand 4 Hundred and 65.

There is One Medical College which is at a very closer distance from Bengaluru in a place called Belur. It is known as AIMS.

3. Adicunchungiri Institute of Medical Sciences.

This medical college which is also famous as AIMS -bellur , is approximately 133 km away from Bangalore International Airport. AIMS was established under the aegis of SRI SRI SRI Balgangadharnatha Maha Swamiji in the year of 1985. 

The medical college is affiliated with RGUHS and recognized by MCI. 

The MBBS Intake of this medical college is 150 and it also has 82 seats for post-graduation. 

The institution has a teaching hospital of 705 beds.

This medical college is also one of the early established ones in Karnataka. The same management manages the BGS Hospital Bangalore and BGS Institute of Medical Sciences Bengaluru.

The NRI quota fee for MBBS seats and Q quota Fees is the same. Fees payable per annum is 34 Lakhs 15 Thousand 5 Hundred 

for 4.5 years.

This college has a comparatively higher fee structure for the P Quota Seats as well. The fee payable per annum for P quota seats is 18 Lakhs 15 Thousand 5 Hundred only.

Medical Colleges in Bijapur (Karnataka). There are two Private Medical Colleges in the historic city of Gol Gumbaz and Buland Darwaza. This place is also approximately an overnight journey from Bengaluru. Both are very old Private Medical Colleges in Karnataka. One is Private Medical Deemed University and the other is under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Sciences

4. Al-Ameen Medical College and Hospital, Bijapur

Al Ameen Medical college was established in the year 1984 in the city of Bijapur.  The campus is spread over 200 acres of the area.  The college has a UG Intake of 150 seats for MBBS and 116 seats for Post Graduation in various branches. 

The medical college has a 500 bedded super specialty hospital on its campus. It also has a separate specialized hospital for women on the same campus which is dedicated to OBG. 

The college is affiliated with RGUHS and the counseling for admission is taken care of by Karnataka Examination Authority. Students from all across the country come to this medical college to the persuasion of their studies in the medical stream.

Al Ameen Medical college is approximately 549 km away from Bangalore City. Hostel Facility is provided on the same campus for both boys and girls.

The NRI quota fee for MBBS seats and Q quota Fees per annum is 30 Lakhs 12 Thousand 4 Hundred and Fifty payable for a total duration of 4.5 years.

5. BM Patil Medical College and Research Center / BLDE University.

BLDE University is a private medical Deemed University that is situated approximately 536 km away from Bangalore in the city of Bijapur, also known as Vijayapura. It is 35 years old very reputed institution that has an intake of 150 seats for MBBS and 145 seats in various post-graduation branches. The college has a multispeciality hospital of 1000 beds attached to it.

The college has a reasonable fee structure of approximately 17 lakhs per annum in the Management quota category and approximately 25 Lakh per annum in the NRI category for MBBS. 

The college has a separate hostel facility for both boys and girls on the same campus. The hostel fees are around 125000 per annum including food and accommodation. 

The Extra Fees include approximately 15000 only as a one-time processing fee.

In the year 2023, the cut-off rank for general category students was around 30181 and for the NRI category was 49347.

6. JLN Medical College / KLE Medical College

KLE Medical College Belgam

Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College is one of the oldest private medical colleges in Karnataka. It was established in the year 1963. The college is affiliated with the KLE Academy of Higher Education. It has 1250 bedded super-specialty hospitals. The Hospital caters to all kinds of emergencies and complex surgeries. The OPD is always occupied with patients from all over and the nearby areas.

The college is located in Belgaum on an overnight journey from Bangalore. The closest airport would be Panaji (Goa) and Hubli (Karnataka).

The college has an intake capacity of 250 seats for MBBS and 233 seats for Post Graduation in various branches.

The Fees for MBBS would come across 18 Lakhs per annum in the general management category and approximately 40 Lakhs per annum in NRI Category.

The college is under MCC and the allotment process for the seats is taken by centralized counseling procedure MCC.

List of Top Medical colleges in Karnataka, Mangalore district. 

There are in total Eight Private medical Colleges in Mangalore. Among these medical colleges, 4 medical colleges are under Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences and 4 are private Medical Deemed Universities.

7. Father Mullers Medical College

FMMC is a very old private medical college in Mangalore. It was established in the year of 1999. The college is affiliated with RGUHS and is recognized by MCI. The college has a teaching hospital attached to it with a capacity of 750 beds. The intake for the MBBS program is 150 whereas the intake for Post Graduation programs is 106. It is also NAAC A accredited college. 

This college is located about 369 km away from Bangalore and is well connected by various means of transport.

The college comes under KEA and the fees for MBBS under the NRI category were around 30 lakh 12 thousand 4 hundred 50 per annum to be payable for 4.5 years.

8. Kanachur Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre.

The college was established in the year 2016 in Mangalore and is affiliated with RGUHS. The institution got MCI recognization in the year 2021 for 150 MBBS students. The Institution has a super specialty 300 bedded hospital. The medical college is spread over a 25 acre of wifi-enabled campus. 

Kanachur Medical College Mangalore

Instution has a well-established library with books, journals.

The fee structure for MBBS is around 32 Lakh 12 thousand 4 hundred and 50 per annum.

The Institution is yet to start with its post-graduation courses.

Separate boys and girls hostels are available for the students on the same campus. 

9. AJ Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre / AJIMS

AJ Institute of Medical Sciences was established in the year 2002 under Laxmi Memorial Trust in the coastal city of Mangalore. The college is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Sciences Bangalore and Recognised by MCI.

The college has an intake of 150 seats for MBBS and 125 seats for the various post-graduation branches. The college also has super specialty courses to be pursued after Post Graduation in various branches.

The college has a super specialty teaching Hospital of 1000 beds attached to the same campus of 35 acres. 

The college enjoys modern architecture at a picturesque location overviewing the city of Mangalore.

It has different committees to look after various departments such as anti-ragging, UG curriculum, PG Curriculum, Blood Bank, Grievances, etc. In this committee professors, staff of various departments along with the post-graduation students are included in different committees for the wellbeing of the students.

As mentioned earlier the college is in the city of Mangalore and is well connected by various means of transport such as trains, Flights, Bus.

The Counselling for the various MBBS and PG seats is done through KEA. Students from all over the country and are eligible in NEET can apply.

The Fee for the MBBS course in this college under NRI Quota and Q quota is Rs 40 Lakh 12 Thousand 4 Hundred and Fifty payable per annum for four and half years.

10. Srinivas Medical College / Srinivas Institute of Medical Sciences & Research Center

Also, known as SIMS, this medical college is also situated on an overnight journey from Bangalore and is well connected by various means of transport.

It was established in the year 2011 by the famous Srinivas Group in Mangalore. They manage Srinivas University as well.

The college has an MBBS intake of 150 students and a Post-graduation intake of 52 students in various Clinical and Non-Clinical Branches of Post Graduation.

The college had a post-graduation course in 9 branches and 18 seats till 2020 and then they got permission for 7 clinical branches in the year 2020 thereby increasing their PG seats to 52.

Srinivas Medical College has a teaching hospital of 635 beds attached to it.

The college is affiliated with RGUHS and is recognized by MCI.

The MBBS fees in the NRI quota for the academic year 2020 were around 42 Lakh 12 Thousand 4 Hundred 50 only payable for 4.5 years.

The counseling for the various PG and UG seats is done through KEA.

11. Yenepoya Medical College, Mangalore

Yenepoya Medical College was established in the year 1999 in Mangalore under RGUHS with a 100 intake of MBBS seats. In the year 2005, they got permission to start with Post graduation in 7 departments.

Currently, the Medical College is a Deemed University and is affiliated with Yenepoya University. The college has an intake of 150 seats in MBBS and 102 seats in Post Graduation in 20 different branches.

The Medical College has a Superspeciality Hospital with 1000 beds attached to it which has lots of patient intake.

The Medical College is NAAC accredited and the hospital is NABH accredited.

Also, one more reason for the students to choose this medical college is the 3 Tesla MRI machines. The inclusion of this machine in its hospital makes a person understands the kind of sophisticated machines they have in their hospital for the diagnosis and treatment.

Along with the other facilities of the Yenepoya medical college, the students enjoy a world-class home away from home environment in its hostels. Separate boys and girls hostels for various courses are available on the wifi-enabled campus. Both AC and Non AC rooms are available for the UG students whereas, the Hostel Rooms for PGs are air-conditioned.

Apart from all this, the college hostel has numerous Restaurants, a cafeteria, and a beautiful sports complex.

The College has a well-stocked library of 30000 and above books on its premises and also has subscriptions to various E-learning portals.

The Counseling for the various MBBS and PG seats in Yenepoya Medical college is done by MCC. Students eligible under NEET in any category can apply for this college.

The MBBS fees as per the academic year 2020 are Rs 17 Lakh 50 Thousand per year for 4 years and 10 Lakh for the fifth year. The total Payable package will become 80 Lakhs only.

The NRI Fees for MBBS Course is 1 Hundred 89 Thousand USD only. The first-year payable is 57000 USD and subsequently 33000 USD for the remaining 3.5 years.

12. KS Hegde Medical College / NITTE University Mangalore

KS Hegde Medical Academy was established in the year of 1999 by the former Chief Justice of the supreme court of India and Lok sabha speaker Late CJ KS Hegde.

The college is affiliated with KSHEMA. It’s a Deemed Medical University in Mangalore. The college has 150 seats for MBBS and 137 seats for Post Graduation branches. The college has Superspeciality courses also in various branches.

All the above-mentioned courses are recognized by MCI.

The medical college is attached to 1000 bedded super specialty hospital on its campus. The Hospital is NABH accredited.

The Medical College undertakes admission in MBBS, PG, and Superspeciality courses based on the NEET merit. The students can apply through MCC counseling. Seats would be allocated on the basis of Merit via MCC counseling.

The NRI Fees for the MBBS Course for the entire package come around 1 Crore 22 Lakhs, whereas the management quota fees for MBBS through MCC counseling come around 67 Lakhs.

A separate Hostel facility for boys and girls on the campus near to hospital is available. Approximately fees per annum for AC hostel is around 1 Lakh per and food and mess charges extra.

13. Kasturba Medical College Manipal.

Also known as KMC. This is the first private medical college in India which was established in Manipal. This was established in the year of 1953. The intake capacity of the college is 250 seats for the MBBS and 247 seats for post-graduation courses. It also has super-specialty courses in its college.

The medical college is truly be called the best private medical college in India. The medical college is a 1200 bedded super specialty hospital attached to it.

The Medical college is a deemed private medical college and the counseling takes place through centralized MCC counseling.

The Fees for Indian Management quota MBBS seats through MCC counseling for the meritorious students would be around Rs 71 Lakhs for the entire course payable for a duration of 4.5 years in installments.

The Fee for MBBS for 15% NRI seats is 2 Hundred 29 Thousand 700 USD.

Hostel Fees are separate which comes across Rs 120000/- per annum.

14. Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore.

This college is the second campus of the same Management and under the same university. 

There is about a 60 km distance gap between the 1st and 2nd KMC Campus. KMC Mangalore is also about 60-year-old private medical college established in the year of 1955.

The medical college has an intake of 250 seats for MBBS and 173 seats for Post Graduation. The counseling for the seats is done by MCC via centralized counseling for Deemed Universities.

The Fee structure stays the same as above for this campus as well.

15. KVG Medical College, Sullia

K Venkatarammanna Gowda Medical College and Hospital was established in the year of 1999 in the south Karnataka Region in a place called Sullia. It is nearby Mangalore but not exactly Mangalore.

The Medical College has 600 bedded super specialty Hospital on its campus. The hospital caters to mainly the rural population surrounding that area. The intake is 100 Mbbs Students and 60 PG Students per year.

KVG Medical college hospital has a specialized department for OBG. 

The medical college has different courses on the same campus.

The medical college is affiliated with RGUHS and is recognized by MCI. The counseling for various MBBS and PG courses is done by the allotment process of KEA.

The NRI Fee structure for MBBS is 32 Lakhs 62 Thousand 4 Hundred 50 per annum.

16. Navodaya Medical College, Raichur

Also known as NMC Raichur, this medical college was established in the year 2000. This place is near Hyderabad airport and overnight journey distance from Bangalore. It is well connected by Bangalore and Hyderabad.

The medical college is affiliated with RGUHS and is recognized by MCI. 

NMC Raichur has an intake capacity of 150 students for MBBS and 101 Students for PG every year.

The Medical College has 1200 bedded super specialty hospital attached to its campus. 80 percent of the beds are reserved for the privileged ones and the treatment is provided free of cost.

Also, the Lab and Diagnostic facilities are provided at subsidized rates.

The medical college has more than 15 institutions managed under one roof. 

Separate boys’ and girls’ hostels are available on the same campus.

The counseling for UG and PG courses is taken by KEA.

The NRI fee for MBBS Payable per annum is 31 Lakhs 12 Thousand 4 Hundred and 50.

17. Subbaiah Institute of Medical Sciences and Research center

Subbaiah Medical College is located approximately 263 Km away from Bangalore in a place called Shimoga. This Medical College was established in the year 2011-2012. 

The medical college is spread in an area of 35 acres. It has a 700 bedded teaching Hospital. Basic Facilities for the OPD such as Diagnostic tools are available.

The college has 150 seats for MBBS and Post Graduation courses have not yet been started till the year 2021.

The college is affiliated with RGUHS and is recognized by MCI.

The NRI Fees for MBBS payable per annum is Rs 33 Lakh 12 Thousand 4 Hundred 50.

Students are requested to check the college Miscellaneous Fee and Hostel Fee before opting for Subbaiah Medical College.

List of best Medical Colleges in Karnataka, Davangree district

There are two private medical colleges in the Knowledge city of Karnataka known as Davangree district. Both the colleges are managed by the same management. Both the colleges can be considered as better than the best in Karnataka. One among them was established in early 1960.

18. JJM Medical College

Jagadguru Jayadeva Murugarajendra Medical College, also known as JJM Medical College Davangree was established in the year of 1965. It was established under the aegis of some eminent philanthropist of Davangree. This medical college has made a name under the leadership of Dr. Shamanur ShivshankarappaJi. 

JJM Medical College is affiliated with RGUHS and is recognized by the Medical Council of India.

Speaking about the Medical College, the most important part to notice is its location and teaching hospital of JJM and the Hospitals of davangree which are associated with JJM.

Even though the medical college has an intake capacity of 245 students for MBBS and 223 for post-graduation, the students are occupied with patients. The Patient: students ratio is unmatched in this medical college. 

Apart from its own 1930 bedded super specialty Bapuji hospital, JJM Medical College is tied up with other hospitals such as District CG Hospital, SS General Hospital, STJ General Hospital. These hospitals are government hospitals and are crowded with patients. Students from JJM Medical College are posted there during their course. This serves as an excellent clinical exposure environment for the students studying there.

Basically in short, students are highly exposed to patients of various departments in JJM Medical college and they can experience an environment similar to government medical college in terms of patient exposure while studying in JJM Medical College Davangree.

The location of this medical college is in the heart of Davangree town. Just opposite SS Mall, which is the biggest mall in davangere. 

Hostel facilities for both boys and girls are provided at walking distance of the medical college.

The NRI Fee structure for MBBS in JJM Medical College is 45 lakhs 12 thousand 4 hundred 50 per annum, payable for a duration of 4.5 years.

19. SSIMS, Davangree

Shymanuru Shivashankarappa Institute of Medical Sciences is the full name of SSIMS Davangree. It is also known as SS institute Medical Sciences Davangree. It was established in the year 2006 on the Bangalore Bombay Highway in Davangree. This medical college is also owned by Dr. Shamanur Shivshankarappa Ji. 

Davangree town is just 1 km from the highway. This Medical College is spread in an area of more than 100 acres.

SSIMS Davangree is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Sciences and the courses are recognized by MCI.

SSMS has got a modern architecture and since the college has been named on the founder, it maintains a very high standard of quality education, infrastructure, and facilities of treatments for the patients.

The SS medical college has a 1200 bedded multispeciality teaching hospital attached to it. The teaching hospital is the only super specialty and very famous hospital covering in and around Davangree. It can be mentioned as the best hospital if we leave Bangalore. Each of its departments is equipped with all modern and sophisticated machines. 

Patients requiring complex radiological diagnosis, complex surgeries, complex road accidents, burn cases are been referred to this hospital by the neighboring hospitals and areas.

It is attached to Narayana Hrudalaya Hospitals for Cardiology, Fortis Hospital for Urology, Sparsh Hospitals for bone and spine surgeries. This you can identify while entering the Medical College. The first block is the Hospital where you can see the boards of these three hospitals.

More than 3000 outpatients are seen every month in SS Hospital Davangree. The number of patients is not less than JJM Medical College.

The college has an intake of 150 seats for MBBS and 67 seats for post-graduation. Superspecialization courses are offered in the branch of Cardiology, Neurology, Plastic Surgery, and Urology.

The medical college has an air-conditioned Lecture hall, seminar room, and Library. The library is well stocked with books and is a center of attraction. The college has an ATM of Bapuji Bank and Axis Bank in its Hospital Premises.

The Medical College has a well-maintained canteen inside the premises where decent North Indian and South Indian Cuisine are available.

The hostel facilities for both girls and boys are available on the college campus. There are two types of rooms available in the hostel.  

The NRI Fees for the MBBS course is approximately 45 Lakhs 12 Thousand 4 hundred 50 per annum.

List of Medical Colleges in Karnataka, Chitradurga district

There is only one private medical college in Chitradurga known as Sri Basaveshwara.

20. Sri Basaveshwara Medical College and Hospital Chitradurga.

Sri Basaveshwara Medical College was established in the year 1999 at approximately 236 km from Bangalore in Bangalore Bombay Highway. It is approximately 70 km before the town of Davangree.

The medical college has 500 bedded super specialty Hospital attached to the medical college.

The medical college has an intake of 100 seats for MBBS and 40 seats for post-graduation. The Basaveshwara Medical College doesn’t have a super specialty branch course.

Students from all over the country can be seen studying in this medical college. 

Separate Hostel facilities for both boys and girls are in this college. 

The NRI Fees and Q quota Fees for MBBS in Basavveshwara Medical College and Hospital are 40 Lakhs 12 Thousand 4 Hundred and 50 per annum.

List of Medical Colleges in Karnataka, Tumkuru district

There are three Private Medical Colleges in Tumkuru. Tumkur is a place approximately 70-75 km away from center of Bangalore. There are two Deemed Universities affiliated to Siddhartha University Tumkur and one private Medical College under KEA.

21.Sri Siddhartha Medical College , Tumkur

Siddhartha Medical College is also known as SS Medical College Tumkur. It is located 90 km away from Bangalore. The year of inception of SS Medical College is 1988. It is an institution with more than 30 years of legacy. The medical college was earlier under RGUHS but later got a status of Deemed University. It is currently affiliated to Siddhartha University also called Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education Tumkur.

Sri Siddhartha Medical College has an intake of 150 seats for MBBS and 48 seats for Post Graduation.

The counseling for the various MBBS and PG Seats is taken care of by MCC. 

The students allotted seats through MCC has to produce Bank Guarantee for the remaining fee for 3.5 years in the prescribed bank guarantee format.

Also, the Hostel Fee for MBBS Students in Siddhartha Medical College Tumkur is around Rs 125000/- pa, and for PG students is Rs 175000/- per year.

22. Sri Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences / Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education

Sri Siddhartha Institute of Medical Sciences is a constituent college of Sri Siddhartha Medical Medical College. It is located in Neelmangla, on the highway between Bangalore and Tumkuru. 

It was established in the year 2019 and has an intake of 150 MBBS seats.

The Medical college is a Deemed University and is affiliated to Siddhartha Academy of Higher Education.

The first batch of MBBS students has not yet passed since it’s a new medical college and so Post Graduation seats are not available.

The medical college has a super specialty hospital of 750 beds on the highway just before reaching Tumkur on the same campus.

Other facilities such as ATM, Hostel, etc are available.

The medical college is a new college and so the infrastructure is huge and modern.

Hostel facilities are available with a cautious deposit of 2 lakh rupees and at an annual fee of 125000/-.

The medical college has a reasonable fee structure of around 11 Lakhs per annum for MBBS for the meritorious students who take seats through MCC Counselling. However, a bank guarantee for the fees of the remaining 3.5 years has to be produced in the prescribed format while reporting.

The NRI Fees for MBBS is USD 50949 per annum which comes to approximately 41 Lakhs INR.

23. Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Hospital

Shridevi Institute of Medical Sciences was established in the year of 2013 by a renowned Surgeon and Philanthropist in Tumkuru. Shridevi medical college has an intake of 150 students for MBBS and 45 seats for Post Graduation in 16 different clinical, paraclinical, and Non-Clinical branches.

Shridevi Medical College Tumkuru has a 750 bedded super-specialty teaching hospital on its campus which was started with the aim of providing quality medical facilities to the economically weaker section of the society.

The promoters belong to the family of doctors which runs a 300 bedded super specialty Hospital in Tumkuru. The promoters also manage different colleges in different disciplines such as Nursing, Engineering, MBA, Paramedical courses as well.

The Medical College is located on the highway of Tumkuru and can be seen attracting lots of patients from the nearby region due to the advanced diagnosis facilities such as CT Scan, MRI, Doppler available.

Shridevi Medical College Tumkuru has always shown the result of more than 80 % pass percentage in academics which is excellent in the RGUHS exam.

Students of SIMS have always shown outstanding performance in their academics.

The medical college is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Sciences and is recognized by the Medical Council of India.

There is one Private Deemed Medical University in the city of Mysore / Mysuru. The name of this medical college is JSS Medical College.

24. JSS Medical College 

JSS Medical College was established in the year 1984 and is known as one of the top private medical colleges in India. It was established at a famous place known as Mysore which is approximately 170 km away from Bangalore.

The medical college is recognized by MCI and is affiliated to JSS Academy of Higher Education, also known as JSS University.

JSS Medical College offers MBBS, Post Graduation, and super-specialty courses such as DM and MCh as well.

The Institution has an intake of 200 seats for MBBS and 172 seats for post-graduation. The JSS Medical college also offers super-specialty courses in 4 different branches. The counseling of the seats is done through the centralized counseling committee MCC. The medical college has a super specialty hospital of 1800 beds attached to it on the same campus.

The Hospital which is attached to this medical college is very famous and the OPD is always occupied with different types of patients. 

The medical college has made a name of itself in the field of medical education and providing world-class healthcare facilities to the patients.

The JSS Medical college is NAAC A accredited medical college with a NIRF ranking of 19. Also, more than 300 research papers are published every year.

The medical college receives grants from various NGOs such as Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, JSS academy, ICMR, etc.

Hostel Facilities for both girls and boys are provided on campus at an affordable cost.

The Management quota Fees for MBBS through MCC counseling is around 18 Lakh per annum, whereas the NRI quota fees for MBBS in JSS Medical College come around 50000 USD per annum.

There is one private medical deemed university in a place nearby to Bangalore called Kolar. It is known as Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College.

25. Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of Higher Education and Research

Devaraj Urs Medical College was established in the year of 1984 in a place nearby Bangalore called Kolar. It is approximately 70 kms away from Bangalore city. While crossing Bangalore in the old Madras road towards Tripathi, MVJ Medical college will come first on the right side in Hoskote, and then 20 km further ahead would be Devaraj Medical College in Kolar.

Devaraj Urs Medical College offers both an MBBS course and Post Graduation course as well.

The medical college is a private medical Deemed University and is ranked below 200 in NIRF Ranking. The Name of the teaching hospital attached to Devraj Urs Medical College is RL Jalappa Hospital. This hospital is accredited by NABH.

RL Jalappa hospital is a super specialty hospital with more than 1100 beds and more than 100 ICU units.

Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College has an intake of 150 seats for MBBS and 112 seats for Post Graduation.

The Medical College is a private deemed university and is affiliated to SDUAHER. The counseling for various MBBS and Post Graduation seats are taken up via MCC.

There are 15 % NRI seats for MBBS and various Post Graduation courses in this medical college.

The Management quota Fee structure for MBBS in this college comes around 1465000/- per annum whereas the NRI Fees for MBBS in Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College come around 51000 USD payable for a period of 4.5 years.

There are 12 private medical colleges in Bangalore. In this list of 13 Private Medical Colleges, One is Private Deemed University, 10 Private Medical Colleges are affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Sciences and there is one more Medical College known as St Johns Medical College.

In this part of the article, I will give you information about all the Private Medical Colleges in Bangalore in Karnataka.

Since this part of Karnataka has the maximum number of Private Medical Colleges, along with a small brief, I will also share the Rankwise List of Colleges in Bangalore as per my preference. ( I will not mention anything about St Johns Medical College bringing the number of colleges to be described as 12 in total )

10 Private Medical Colleges in Bangalore provide Post Graduation courses as well in their institutions except for East Point Medical College. The counseling for the seats takes place through MCC and through KEA as well.

26. MS Ramiah Medical College and Hospital

MS Ramiah Medical College and Hospital was established in the year 1979 in Bangalore by renowned Philanthropist Mr. M S Ramiah. MS Ramiah Medical College is located in the heart of Bangalore. The place is now known as M S Ramiah Nagar. It is spread in an area of 65 acres.

MS Ramiah Medical College has a very well-established modern Hospital. This is 

1331 bedded Teaching Hospital. attached to the Medical College. This Hospital is a private hospital that attracts patients of all socio-economic conditions of the society.

The college OPD is full of patients with various illnesses. Due to the abundant number of patients, the students studying in this medical college get a chance of early and good clinical exposure.

MS Ramiah Medical College is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Sciences and is recognized by the Medical Council of India.

MSRMC has an intake of 150 seats for MBBS and 208 seats for Post Graduation. Also, MS Ramiah Medical College offers superspecialization courses in 12 different streams.

The counseling for various Mbbs and Post Graduation seats is done by KEA.

27. KIMS 

Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences can be considered among the 5 topmost medical colleges in Bangalore and 24th among the topmost medical colleges in the country. It was established in the year 1980 by Vokkaligara Sangha.

KIMS Medical College is situated in the CBD area of Bangalore. Most prominent places like MG Road, Brigade Road, Jayanagar, Kormangala, Railway station are in around 5 km vicinity.

KIMS medical college has a 1200 bedded super specialty hospital attached to it. The college offers an MBBS course to 150 students and PG Course to 111 students in different branches.

The important point to note about the Hospital of KIMS Medical college is that the hospital is recognized by General Medical Council UK and it hospital is also listed in the list of Hospitals of WHO. It is also recognized by the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology London.

They offer Post Graduation in 21 different branches.

Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health and Sciences and is recognized by the Medical Council of India.

The Counselling for the UG and PG courses is done by Karnataka Examination Authority.

Hostel facilities for both boys and girls are available on different campuses nearby to KIMS hospital. It is known as Banashankari. Bus transportation facilities are available for the students.

The NRI Fees for MBBS are 36 Lakhs 12 Thousand 4 Hundred and 50 payable for a 4.5-year duration.

28. Vydehi Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre.

Vydehi Medical College is one of the biggest medical colleges in Karnataka. It is located in the Whitefield area of Bangalore. The medical college is affiliated with RGUHS and is recognized by the Medical Council of India.

Vydehi Medical College and Hospital was established in the year 2000 by Mr. Audikeshavulu. Currently, Vydehi Medical College and Hospital is Managed by his daughter Mrs. DA Kalpaja.

The teaching Hospital attached to Vydehi medical college is a 1600 bedded super-specialty hospital.

VIMS & RC has an intake of 250 seats for MBBS and 165 seats for post-graduation. It also offers 18 seats for superspecialization. This institution also takes pride in offering MRCP and MRCS courses. So, the medical graduates who are looking to go abroad after their studies also opt for this college.

A notable point in this Medical College is that it has an MD Radiotherapy course in its post-graduation as well. Also, super specialty courses such as Mch In Oncosurgery are offered in this institution.

The counseling for MBBS and the Post graduation courses are taken by KEA. 

Hostel facilities for boys and girls are available in the same campus. The fee for Hostel comes around 160000 per annum.

The NRI Fees for MBBS is 39 Lakh per annum payable for a duration of 4.5 years.

29. Rajarajeshwari Medical College and Hospital

RRMC & Hospital is the one and only private medical Deemed University in entire Bangalore. It was established in the year 2005 and was earlier affiliated with RGUHS. Currently, this medical college is affiliated with Dr. MGR university Tamil Nadu.

Rajarajeshwari Medical College and Hospital is located on Mysore road in Bangalore Mysore Highway. Since the inception of this medical college, the teaching hospital has always seen a regular flow of patients due to its location. 

Rajarajeshwari Medical College is attached to a super-specialty teaching hospital with 1300 beds on its campus.

The medical college offers an MBBS intake of 250 seats and 171 seats in different branches of post-graduation. RRMC & H has super-specialty courses in some branches as well.

The counseling for seats of different courses is done through the centralized counseling committee MCC.

In-campus hostel facilities are provided for both boys and girls. However, it is not mandatory to stay in Hostel. Students can also choose to stay outside the campus at their convenience.

The management fee for MBBS through MCC Counselling is 23.5 lakhs per annum, whereas the NRI fees for MBBS come to around 40 lakhs per annum.

30. BGS Global Medical College and Hospital

BGS medical college is one more addition to the group of institutions led by Adichunchungiri trust by Swamiji Sri Sri Sri Balgangadharnatha Maha Swamiji. This medical college is the second medical college of the group and was established in the Kengeri area of Bangalore in the year 2013.

The college has a very prominent and famous multispeciality 500 bedded hospital attached as a teaching hospital. The BGS Gleanagles Hospital is the first in Karnataka to perform a dual organ liver transplantation.

The 500 bedded super specialty hospital is a very famous hospital in that area.

The medical college has a very modern infrastructure and has an intake of 150 seats for MBBS and 57 seats for Post Graduation.

The medical college is affiliated with RGUHS and is recognized by MCI.

The NRI fee structure for MBBS in this college is 45 Lakhs 12 Thousand 4 Hundred 50 only per annum.

31. Dr.BR Ambedkar Medical College

B R Ambedkar Medical College is located in the CBD area of Bangalore and was established in the year 1980. It is also known as Ambedkar Medical College or AMC.

Ambedkar Medical College is one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in Bangalore. AMC has an 800 bedded teaching hospital attached to it on its campus.

The intake for MBBS in Ambedkar Medical College is 100 and for post-graduation is 74.

The medical college is recognized by MCI and is affiliated with RGUHS.

Hostel facilities on the campus for both boys and girls are provided at a nominal fee structure.

The NRI fees payable for the MBBS course is 36 Lakhs 87 Thousand 4 Hundred and 50 per annum only for a duration of 4.5 years.

32. MVJ Medical College and Hospital

MVJ Medical College and Hospital is located in the satellite town of Bangalore called Hoskote. The medical college was established in the year 1997.

MVJ medical college has an 833 bedded hospital attached to it. The hospital caters to patients of the nearby area mainly.

The medical college has 150 seats for MBBS and 63 seats for post-graduation. MVJMC is affiliated with RGUHS and is recognized by MCI. The counseling for the different seats for UG and PG is done through KEA.

Hostel facilities for both girls and boys are available on campus.

The NRI Fee payable per annum for MBBS in MVJ Medical College is 40 Lakh 12 Thousand 4 Hundred 50.

33. Akash Medical College 

Akash Institute of Medical Sciences is located at a 15 mins drive from Bangalore international airport towards Bangalore Hyderabad highway in a place called devanahalli.

The location of the college is very good for academics. It is away from the hustle of the city but in Bangalore.

The medical college was started in the year 2016 and has an intake of 150 seats for MBBS. 

The medical college has 500 bedded super specialty hospital attached to it

The hospital has a modern infrastructure but the OPD is less as compared to other medical colleges in Bangalore.

Campus Hostel facilities for both boys and girls are available.

The NRI fees for MBBS Course payable to the college would be 39 Lakhs 12 Thousand 4 Hundred and 50 only per annum.

34. Oxford Medical College

Oxford Medical College was established in the year 2014 in anekal area of Bangalore in Bangalore Hosur Highway.

The medical college has an intake of 150 seats for MBBS and 61 seats for Post Graduation.

Oxford Medical College has a teaching hospital of 600 beds attached to its medical college on its campus.

It got permission to start its PG courses in the year 2021.

OMC is recognized by MCI and is affiliated with RGUHS.

Hostel Facilities are provided for the students studying here.

The NRI fees for MBBS in Oxford Medical College are Rs 42 Lakhs 12 Thousand 4 Hundred and 50 per annum.

35. East Point Medical College and Hospital

East Point Medical College was established in the year of 2017. The medical college is located on its campus where the other courses of East Point Group of Institutions are conducted.

The East Point Medical College has a 150-seat intake for MBBS and it is affiliated with RGUHS and approved by MCI.

The good thing about this college is its location and its ability to maintain approval for the MBBS course for all batches since its inception.

The NRI fees of EPMC for MBBS are 36 Lakh 12 Thousand 4 Hundred and 50 per annum.

36. Sapthagiri Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre

Sapthagiri Institute of Medical Sciences is also known as Sapthagiri Medical College or SIMS.

SIMS was established in the year of 2011. It is located in the Hesserghatta area of Bangalore on the main road. The area is a well-crowded area of Bangalore. 

SIMS has 1200 bedded super specialty Hospital attached to it and has a very big infrastructure.

Patients from all over and nearby areas prefer Sapthagiri medical college for treatment.

SIMS has an intake of 150 seats for MBBS and 71 seats for post-graduation SIMS is affiliated with RGUHS and is recognized by MCI.

The counseling is done by KEA for MBBS and Post Graduation seats in this medical college.

The NRI fees for Sapthagiri Medical College for the MBBS course are 60 Lakh 12 Thousand 4 Hundred and 50 per annum.

37. Dr Chandramma Dayananda Sagar Medical College and Hospital.

This medical college is also known as Dayanand Sagar Medical College. It was incepted in the year 2021 for its first batch of admission for MBBS.

It is an autonomous university and is affiliated with RGUHS.

The counseling for MBBS seats is done through KEA. Ultramodern infrastructure and facilities are the key points to note in this medical college.

Separate campus hostel facilities for boys and girls are available. I can for sure mention that they have got one of the best infrastructure and facilities even though it’s a new medical college.

The fees for MBBS in management quota is 20 Lakhs 15 Thousand 5 Hundred per annum. The NRI Fees for Dayanand Sagar Medical College and Hospital for MBBS is 32 Lakh 15 Thousand 5 Hundred per annum.

There is one medical college in the district Bagalkot known as S Nijalingappa Medical College and Hospital

38. S Nijalingappa Medical College and Hospital Bagalkot

S Nijalingappa Medical College and Research Centre are at a road distance of approximately 500 km from Bangalore. The medical college was established in the year 2002 and has 1000 bedded super specialty Hospital attached to it on its campus.

S Nijalingappa Medical College and Hospital has an intake of 250 seats for MBBS and 92 seats for Post Graduation.

The Medical College is affiliated with RGUHS and is recognized by the Medical Council of India.

Hostel facilities are available.

The NRI Fees for MBBS in S Nijalingappa Medical College and Hospital is Rs 40 Lakhs 12 Thousand 4 Hundred and 50 per annum.

One very prominent and famous medical college is available in the place called Dharwad called SDM Medical College.

39. SDM College Of Medical Sciences and Research center.

SDM Medical College was established in a place called Dharwad. It is an approximately 7 hours Journey by road and 450 km from Bangalore. The nearby airport is Hubli airport.

SDM College of Medical Sciences was established in the year of 2003. This medical college has a 1200 bedded super specialty hospital attached to it. The hospital attracts patients from that area and the nearby area as well. The teaching Hospital of SDM Medical College is one of the most prominent hospitals in that area.

The medical college is affiliated with RGUHS and is recognized by MCI.

The medical college has a 100-seat intake for MBBS and 92 seats for post-graduation.

The Management quota Fees for MBBS in SDM Medical College are Rs 17 Lakh 45 Thousand 2 Hundred per annum and the Fees for NRI Quota or Q quota seats for MBBS are 32 Lakh 40 Thousand 5 Hundred only. The fees are payable for a duration of 4.5 years.

40. Sambram Institute of Medical Sciences

Sambram Institute of Medical Sciences is established in a place called Kolar. It has not yet got permission to start its batch of MBBS.

Step by Step Procedure of applying in List of Medical Colleges in Karnataka for admission in MBBS and PG courses.

Ist step of applying for MBBS seat and PG Seats in the List of Medical Colleges in KEA/ Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences

A NEET-qualified student should first undergo a process of registration on the official website of the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) at the given time bracket. The date of application would be announced on their website. Registration in KEA is a must and mandatory for applying for the MBBS seats in the private medical colleges under RGUHS. Even for the Management quota seats, registration is mandatory. A student who is planning to opt for the MBBS seats in the NRI category should also register online on the Karnataka Examination Authority Website.

The fees for the application are very nominal and different for different category students.

Ist step of applying for MBBS seat and PG Seats in the List of Private Deemed medical Colleges in Karnataka

A student who has qualified for NEET by securing the minimum qualifying marks or above should register separately on the MCC website for opting for seats in Deemed Medical Universities in Karnataka.

The counseling for 50 % all India Quota along with all the private Medical 

Deemed Universities in India are undertaken by MCC. 

A student has to register separately in MCC for the different types of universities they want to opt for. 

Firstly, Along with the non-refundable registration amount of Rs 5000/-, a student who wants to opt for an MBBS Seat in the List of Private Medical Deemed Universities in Karnataka has to register by paying a refundable amount of Rs 200000/-.

A student who has not registered by paying Rs 2 Lakhs as a refundable security deposit does not qualify for the management quota seats in Deemed Universities in Karnataka.

A student who wants to take a seat in NRI Category also has to register themselves by paying Rs 2 Lakh as a refundable security deposit.

This security deposit would be refunded back to the same account after the counseling gets over.

Counselling Scheme for MBBS seats and PG Seats in Private Medical Medical Colleges through KEA and in Deemed Medical Universities.

The counseling scheme for both the MBBS aspirants and NEET PG aspirants is similar in both the Deemed Universities and Private Medical Colleges in KEA.

The only difference in both types of colleges is the seat-sharing ratio and Eligibility.

The NRI quota seats in Colleges for both under KEA and Private Deemed Universities is 15 % of the total Intake. 

However, Colleges in KEA reserve an extra 5% of the total intake under the Q quota. Q quota is also called others quota where the fee is the same as NRI but Indian students can also apply.

The process of applying is similar in both the type of Medical Colleges till Mop Up round. 

The only difference is the Mop-Up round is conducted online by DGHS and it’s conducted offline by KEA.

However, the students who want to take seats for the stray vacancy quotas should reflect their names in the unallotted list of candidates uploaded by KEA and DGHS on their respective websites.

This can only happen if the student has attempted choice fill for the colleges during the counseling procedure.
