To get BDS admission in Tamilnadu, students must qualify the NEET-UG 2025 and participate in the state or all India counselling process. No direct admission is allowed under any circumstances.

BDS Admission in Tamilnadu: Application Timeline

  • Application opens before NEET UG 2025 results are announced.
  • A minimum of 5 days is given to apply after the NEET result declaration.
  • Students do not need the NEET scorecard at the time of application.
  • Only the NEET UG 2025 Hall Ticket must be uploaded during the application process.
  • The Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee will verify NEET scores directly with NTA.

BDS Admission in Tamilnadu: Authorized Counselling Bodies

BDS admissions in Tamil Nadu are strictly regulated and conducted only through:

  • Tamil Nadu Medical Selection Committee for:
    • Government College BDS seats (State Quota)
    • Government Quota, Management Quota & NRI Quota seats in Private Colleges
  • Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) of DGHS for All India Quota (AIQ) BDS seats

No private/self-financing college in Tamil Nadu is allowed to admit students directly.

BDS Admission in Tamilnadu: Document Authenticity Guidelines

  • Only genuine documents must be submitted during both application and counselling.
  • Submission of fake or forged documents will result in:
    • Cancellation of admission
    • Legal action
    • Debarment from Tamil Nadu BDS counselling for 3 years
    • Forfeiture of tuition fees and security deposit

  • Students and parents are strictly advised not to seek help from agents or touts.

Eligibility Criteria for BDS Admission in Tamilnadu

NEET UG Qualification: To get BDS admission, you must have written and passed NEET-UG 2024. Based on your category, you must score:

Educational Qualification: You must have passed 12th (or equivalent) with: Physics, Chemistry, Biology (or Biotech), and English

  • Submit a Nativity Certificate from the Tamil Nadu government
  • If you studied outside TN, also submit a declaration that you haven’t claimed nativity in another state
  • Candidates from other states can apply under Open Category only
  • Community Certificates from other states won’t be accepted for reservation

If you give false information, your admission may be cancelled and legal action can be taken.

Special Categories:If you belong to any special category, you must:

  • Apply online and upload the required documents
  • PwD – Upload medical certificate from Rajiv Gandhi Govt. Hospital, Chennai
  • Ex-Servicemen’s Children – Pay ₹100 and submit documents
  • Sports Category – Pay ₹100, upload certificates online and attend in-person verification later

Studies outside tamilnadu: If you studied under other boards (not Tamil Nadu, CBSE, or ICSE), you must get an Eligibility Certificate from Dr. M.G.R. Medical University and upload it with your application.

Note: If you don’t upload the documents, your application will be considered under General Category only.

Admission Process for BDS in Tamil Nadu 

Admission to the BDS course in Tamil Nadu  is based on the NEET-UG 2025 score. However, qualifying NEET alone does not guarantee admission; you must also meet other eligibility criteria set by the Government of Tamil Nadu, the National Medical Commission (NMC), and the Dental Council of India (DCI).

Counselling Rounds:

The counselling is conducted online in four rounds:

  1. Round 1
  2. Round 2
  3. Mop-Up Round
  4. Stray Vacancy Round

BDS Admission in Tamilnadu: Key Admission Steps Involed: 

  • Registration & Fee Payment: You must register online and pay a non-refundable registration fee of ₹1,000 and a refundable security deposit of ₹1,00,000.
  • Choice Filling: You must lock your preferred colleges/seats during each round. Locked choices cannot be modified.
  • Seat Allotment: Based on NEET rank and choice preference, seats are allotted. You must download the allotment order, pay the tuition fee, and join the allotted college.
  • Document Verification: You must submit original certificates to the respective colleges at the time of admission.

Eligibility for Counselling Rounds:

  • Only if you have registered in Round 1 are eligible for further rounds.
  • If you have joined and then resigned after Round 2 can still participate in later rounds but will forfeit the fees.
  • If you have been already allotted seats under All India Quota or State Quota in earlier rounds may become ineligible for further rounds.
Important Notes:
  • NRI Quota: 15% of Management Quota seats are reserved for NRI candidates. Unfilled NRI seats are converted to general Management Quota seats.
  • Minority Seats: Allocated based on Linguistic/Religious Minority Rank List. If not filled, they are reverted to general Management Quota.
  • Stray Round: Only for candidates not holding any MBBS/BDS seat.
  • Impersonation or Document Fraud: Strict legal action will be taken, including cancellation of admission and permanent debarment.

Documents Required for BDS Admission in Tami Nadu

For all candidates: 

  • NEET-UG 2025 Admit Card and Scorecard
  • Class 10, 11 & 12 Mark Sheets (both sides)
  • Transfer Certificate (after HSC completion)
  • Study Certificate (Class 6 to 12) – for those studied in Tamil Nadu
  • Community Certificate
  • Nativity Certificate (if applicable)
  • Parent’s Community Certificate – for communal reservation under Tamil Nadu nativity
  • Bonafide Certificate – for 7.5% Government School Quota 
  • Income Certificate – for fee exemption claim
