Admission Procedure
For UG and PG Courses
- Visit the official website of the University, www.vtu.ac.in.
- Click on the “Academic” tab.
- Click on “Admission” to sign up/log in.
- Fill out the registration form by entering the required details.
- Upload required documents, such as passport-size photos, qualifying exam mark sheet, ID proof etc.
- Pay the application fee online via net banking or debit/ credit cards.
PhD
- Candidates aspiring for admission to PhD program is mandated to appear for VTU Eligibility Test.
- The Candidates will be assessed on the basis of a presentation on their research topic and entrance test score.
- The presentation will be in front of the VTU-identified panel members.
Eligibility Criteria
UG Courses (B.E):
- The candidates should have passed the 10th and 12th examinations conducted by the Pre- university board of Karnataka state or any other examination recognised as equivalent by VTU.
- They should also obtain a minimum of 45% of aggregate marks in Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects and Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Electronics as optional subjects in the qualifying examination. For the case of candidates from SC/ ST/OBC (Cat – 1, 2A, 2B, 3A, 3B), it is 40%.
M.Tech:
- To be admitted to M. Tech programs, the candidate should have passed the Bachelor’s Degree of VTU or any other university recognised as equivalent by VTU incorporated by an act of the Central or State legislatures in India or by other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament.
- This should be a minimum 4-year course, and the candidate should have scored a minimum of 5.75 CGPA.
- In the case of SC, ST and Category-I candidates, a minimum of 5.25 CGPA should be obtained.
MBA:
- The students who wish to join the MBA program should clear the qualifying examination, which could be any undergraduate course such as B.E. or any year duration or equivalent examination.
- The candidate should attend any of these Entrance exams: KMAT / CMAT / MAT/ PGCET.
- The candidate should have obtained an aggregate minimum obtained 5.75 CGPA (for General Merit Candidates).
- In the case of SC, ST and Category-I Karnataka Candidates, they should obtain a minimum of 5.25 CGPA in the qualifying examination.
MCA:
- For admission to an MCA degree, the candidates should clear the qualifying examination, which could be any Bachelor’s Degree with Mathematics / Statics / Computer science / Computer application / Computer programming / Business Mathematics / Business Statics as one of the optional subjects.
- The candidate should attend any of these Entrance exams: KMAT / PGCET.
- The degree should be a minimum of 3 years duration or an equivalent examination.
- The candidate should obtain a 5.75 CGPA (for General Merit Candidates).
- In the case of SC, ST and Category-I Candidates, they should score a minimum of 5.25 CGPA in the qualifying examination.
PhD:
- The candidates should score a minimum of 55% marks in the M.Tech degree under their respective specialisation.
- The candidates are required to score well in VTU Eligibility Test.
- The one who qualifies will be allowed admission.
