NEET PG Entrances 2024 Exam Latest Update 2024

NEET-PG is a test that medical students must pass to get into postgraduate medical programs like MD, MS, and PG Diploma courses.

It is the only exam accepted for admission to these programs (MD, MS, and PG Diploma) , as per the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 and the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.

1. Have an MBBS degree or a provisional MBBS pass certificate recognized by the National Medical Commission Act, 2019 or the repealed Indian Medical Council Act, 1956.

2. Possess a permanent or provisional registration certificate of your MBBS qualification issued by the National Medical Commission, the former Medical Council of India, or a State Medical Council.

3. Have completed one year of internship or be likely to complete it on or before the prescribed cut-off date for a particular admission session.

4. Fulfill any other eligibility criteria mentioned in the NEET-PG bulletin of information.

  • All India 50% quota seats in all States and Union territories.
  • State quota seats in all States and Union territories.
  • Private Medical Colleges, Institutions, and Universities/Deemed Universities across the country.
  • Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions.
  • Post MBBS DNB Courses and Post MBBS NBE Diploma Courses.

This exam is the only entrance exam for admission to these programs.

  • AIIMS, New Delhi and other AIIMS
  • PGIMER, Chandigarh
  • JIPMER, Puducherry

  • Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum

These institutions have their own separate entrance exams for MD/MS admissions. 

No State Government, Private Medical College, or University will conduct a separate entrance exam for admission to their MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses.

How to Apply For NEET PG Counselling 2024

  1. Visit the official MCC NEET website: mcc.nic.in

  4. Register, fill out the application form, and pay the application fee.
  5. Submit the form and download a copy for your records.

NEET PG 2024 Result and Cut-off

The NEET PG 2024 result was announced on August 23, 2024, and is available online in the form of a merit list. Along with the result, the cut-off scores have also been released by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). Candidates can download the NEET PG result 2024 PDF from the official website. Qualified candidates will be able to download their scorecards with login details on or after August 30, 2024.

Score Calculation and Cut-off

This year, NBEMS adopted a normalization process to calculate percentile scores for the NEET PG 2024 result. Toppers from both shifts were awarded a 100 percentile, and other candidates were provided percentile scores accordingly. To qualify, candidates must meet the minimum NEET PG 2024 cut-off, which differs by category. The cut-off for the general category is set at the 50th percentile.

Counselling Process

Candidates who meet the cut-off are eligible to participate in the NEET PG 2024 counselling. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct counselling for the allotment of 50% of seats, while the respective state agencies will allot the remaining 50% through counselling.

Steps in the Counselling Process:

  1. Online Registration: Visit the MCC official website (mcc.nic.in) and register using a valid email ID and mobile number.
  2. Payment of Registration Fee:
    • 50% AIQ/Central Universities:
      • General: ₹1,000
      • SC/ST/OBC: ₹500
    • Deemed Universities:
      • All categories: ₹5,000
  3. Refundable Fees:
    • 50% AIQ/Central Universities:
      • General: ₹25,000
      • SC/ST/OBC: ₹10,000
    • Deemed Universities:
      • All categories: ₹2,00,000
  4. Choice Filling and Locking: Candidates must fill and lock their choices for courses and colleges.
  5. Seat Allotment: Based on rank, category, and choices filled, seats are allotted.
  6. Reporting to the Allotted Institute: Candidates must report to their allotted institute within the specified time frame.

NEET PG 2024 Topper and Rank-wise Seat Allotment

The NEET PG 2024 topper list will be uploaded soon. The list includes the top 10 All India Rank holders. For this exam, All India Rank 1 and Rank 2 have secured 100 percentile each, while the third ranker achieved a 99.9990752 percentile.

Expected Rank-Wise Seat Allotment:

  • 1 – 2,900: Government colleges, all branches.
  • 3,000 – 5,000: Government colleges, all branches except Radiology and Dermatology.
  • 5,001 – 7,500: Government colleges, all branches except Radiology, Dermatology, and Medicine.
  • 7,501 – 9,000: Government colleges, all branches except Radiology, Dermatology, Medicine, Paediatrics, TB & Chest.
  • 9,001 – 11,000: Government colleges, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, Psychiatry, and Anaesthesia branches.
  • 11,001 – 14,000: Government colleges, ENT, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, Anaesthesia, Pathology.
  • 15,001 – 20,000: Government colleges, Clinical Branch (depending on counselling rounds).
  • 25,001 – 30,000: Government colleges, Clinical or Non-Clinical Branch (depending on counselling rounds and choice-filling).
  • 25,001 – 40,000: Private colleges and Deemed Universities (may get Government College), Clinical or Non-Clinical Branch/DNB.
  • 40,001 – 80,000: Only Private Colleges and Deemed Universities, Non-Clinical Branch.

Reservation Criteria for 50% AIQ Seats:

  • OBC (Non-creamy layer): 27%
  • SC: 15%
  • ST: 7.5%
  • EWS: 10%
  • PwD: 5%

Candidates should keep a hard copy of their result for reference purposes during the counselling process. The NEET PG 2024 result and scorecard will be valid for this session only, and candidates cannot use the scorecard for admission next year.

NEET-PG 2024 Result and Cutoff

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), New Delhi, has released the following important information regarding NEET-PG 2024:

    • NEET-PG 2024 was conducted on 11th August 2024 in two shifts for admissions to MD/MS/DNB/Diploma courses for the 2024-25 session.

  5. Merit List for 50% All India Quota:

    • The merit position for All India 50% quota seats will be declared separately. The final merit list/category-wise merit list for State quota seats will be generated by the respective States/UTs according to their qualifying criteria, guidelines, regulations, and reservation policies.
  6. Unfair Means:

    • If any candidate is found to have used unfair means during the examination, they will face strict action, including the cancellation of their results/candidature.
  7. Scorecard Download:

    • Individual scorecards will be available for download on or after 30th August 2024 from the website https://nbe.edu.in.
  8. Provisional Candidature:

    • The candidature of candidates is provisional and subject to meeting the eligibility criteria as outlined in the NEET-PG 2024 Information Bulletin and the verification of Face ID/Biometric data, where required.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) initiated NEET PG 2024 Counselling registration

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) initiated NEET PG 2024 Counselling registration on September 20 at 5 PM, with the full schedule to be released soon on mcc.nic.in. PwD certificate issuance is available from September 9 to 25. According to FAIMA, registration closes on September 26 at 3 PM, followed by choice filling until September 26 and choice locking from 4-11:55 PM that day. Seat allotment processing occurs from September 27-29, with results on.
