In the year 1991, the Islamic Society of Education which is a not-for-profit organization was formed for the upliftment of the minorities by its founder and Chairman Mr.Yenepaya Abdulla Kunhi. The trustees had then realized the potential of Healthcare professionals.

From its inception, the main goal is to provide quality higher education, getting towards the goal which is best in the profession. All the colleges under the group provide graduate, postgraduate, Ph.D., and various degree programs.

Yenepaya College of Nursing, which comes under the Islamic Academy of Education was founded in the year 2002. Islamic Academy of Education wanted to create a new trust for the formation of the deemed to be university in the year 2007. Yenepaya university gained the status of a Deemed University under section 3A of the UGC Act 1956 in the year 2008. The campus is located at Nithyananda Nagar, Deralakatte which has great infrastructural facilities.

Yenepoya College of Nursing Mangalore is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council(INC) and the Karnataka State Nursing Council(KNSC). It is a constituent college that comes under Yenepoya Deemed University, Mangalore. It has got accreditation as NAAC “A” and has got ranked in the eighty-sixth place in the National Institution Ranking Framework(NIRF) 2020.

 Academic Eligibility

The academic eligibility required for B.Sc. Nursing are:

  1. Must have passed 10 +2 or 12th standard or any equivalent from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with English subjects.
  2. The age required during the time of admission is seventeen years.
  3. The student must be medically fit.
  4. Must have an aggregate score of forty-five percent in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. For reserved category OBC/SC/ST, the aggregate score is forty percent.

Eligibility required for admission to Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing is:

  1. Must hold a GNM degree (Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery), from any board which is approved by the Indian Nursing Council or State Nursing Council.
  2. Must have passed Pre-university examinations in either the Arts, Science, or Commerce stream, examination conducted by the Department Of Pre-University examination, Karnataka, or any other equivalent to Yenepoya University.
  3. Should have registered with the State Nursing Council.
  4. He/she must be medically fit.
  5. Age should not be above forty-eight years of age as of 31st December on the year of admissions.

Admission is based on the Entrance examination conducted in the center within the campus. After which, the counseling and admission are based on the ranking in the examination. Important criteria for getting admission to M.Sc Nursing are:

  1. The student must be a registered nurse and registered midwife or any equivalent with any State Nursing Registration Council.
  2. Must have passed B.Sc. Nursing from any recognized university with a minimum mark of fifty-five percent.
  3. Must have a minimum of one year before or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing.
  4. The student must be medically fit.
