AJ Institute of Dental Sciences Mangalore Overview
AJ Institute of Dental Sciences is a brilliant multi-specialty hospital cum college which is managed by Laxmi Memorial Trust(R). This educational organization was opened by Mr. A.J. Shetty.
Objective: To Provide International Standard dental education for all students and achieve the objective of “Health for All“.
The first batch of students was enrolled in the year 2002. The campus is spread in 30 acres of land of blushy green and the coastal of Mangalore City. The college has every time bus facility to the railway station, airport and bus stand.
AJIDS has well-built buildings and blocks of the campus. The college has all the latest instruments and materials used in dentistry. The classrooms are also well made with international standards. Apart from classrooms, the college has audio-visual and seminar rooms too.
AJ Dental College is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences(RGUHS) and approved by the Dental Council of India. The institute is also approved by the Government and the Ministry of Karnataka. AJ Institute of Dental Sciences comes under the Karnataka Religious and Linguistic Minority or KRLM.

AJ Dental College Admission Process
Admission to AJ Institute of Dental Sciences involves the following steps. Follow these guidelines to ensure a smooth application process.
Register for NEET
Admission for BDS/ MDS are based on NEET-UG and NEET-PG conducted by NTA. The candidates should apply for Karnataka NEET.
Upload Documents and Fee Payment
After filling out the application form, candidates must upload required documents and make fee payment.
Fill in Choice of Colleges
Once done with the registration, the candidates can select the colleges of their choices in the option entry form.
Mock Allotment
The Mock Allotment provides the candidates an initial indication of seats allocation.
Counselling and Allotment
The candidates are allotted based on the NEET score, Merit rank, Reservations and seats availability. During the counselling candidates should choose A J Institute of Dental Sciences as their first option.
Complete Enrollment
The Allotted candidates should report to the college to complete the enrollment process, document verification and make payment of fee within specified time.
Admission Under General Merit Category:
- The admission will be done by NEET UG Exam and on the merit list.

- Conduct Certificate – Original copy and 3 attested copies should be provided.

- Migration Certificate – Original copy and 3 attested copies should be provided.
- Physical Fitness.
- Blood Group Certificate.
- Photographs – 5 Passport Size and 5 Stamp Size.
Admission Under NRI Quota:
- Eligibility and other details same as above.
List of Documents for Admission for NRI Quota:
- 10th Standard marks list or pass certificate for proof of date of birth. Original copy and 3 attested copies should be provided.
- 12th Standard or equivalent marks card and pass certificate. Original copy and 3 attested copies should be provided.
- Transfer Certificate – Original copy and 3 attested copies should be provided.
- Conduct Certificate – Original copy and 3 attested copies should be provided.
- Eligibility Certificate approved by RGUHS.
- Migration Certificate – Original copy and 3 attested copies should be provided.
- Physical Fitness.
- Blood Group Certificate.
- Photographs – 5 Passport Size and 5 Stamp Size.
- Proof of Employment of Parent.
- Original Passport and ID Proof.
- Letter of sponsorship – Original copy and 5 copies should be provided.
- A residential permit from local SP and FRO.
- No Objection Certificate from the Ministry of Health if applicable.
AJ Dental College Eligibility Criteria
Bachelor of Dental Surgery(BDS):
Course Duration: 4 + 1 Year Internship
For admission towards BDS in AJ Institute of Dental Sciences, the following are the criteria:
- Candidate must pass 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
- Candidate must score at least 50% in PCB i.e Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
- The candidate must compulsorily pass English Subject during the 10+2 or equivalent examination.
- The candidate must be of at least 17 years of age during the admission procedure of that academic year.
Entrance Exam Eligibility for Admission towards BDS:
- Candidates who want to join AJ Dental College must qualify NEET(National Eligibility Entrance Test) UG Entrance Exam of that academic year without fail.
- The qualified candidates will be informed and allotted a set according to the merit list.
Masters of Dental Surgery(MDS):
Course Duration: 3 Years
If a candidate wishes to take admission in AJ Dental College for MDS course must have the following Eligibility:
- The candidate must have a BDS Degree or Equivalent which is recognized by the Dental Council of India.
- Candidate must have attended the compulsory rotating internship after passing the final year university examination of BDS.
Entrance Exam Eligibility for Admission towards MDS:
- Candidates who are seeking admission to AJ Dental College for MDS must qualify for the NEET PG entrance exam.
- Candidates who are qualified will be listed for counseling and will be allotted a seat according to the merit list.

sir i passed my 12th grade with 93 percent in bio , 87 in phy and 84 in chem , i prepared for my entrance for a year bcoz my frst tym neet score was less , this time i secured only 202 marks for neet 2018 tho i am qualified sir , i want to know where i can get a bds admission for around 9 to 10 lakhs without donation , i need ur help , i am from kerala , and i opt to get admission anywhere in kerala , max the distance is mangalore where my parents can let me study sir , i hope you will get back to me soon , 🙁
Its one of the worst dental college in the region. The professors are just fit to teach Kindergarten. They never learned professionalism. They collected donation in lacks and completely failed to provide quality education.
In one word its just money making business and once you joined you will go through hell lot of scenarios created by the unprofessional teachers. Please stay away and never waste life here.. I still have one more year to struggle since my parents paid huge money. Also too much biasing for Kerala students..
