Today, I am going to talk about another college, Mangalore College of Nursing, Mangalore. Mangalore College of Nursing Mangalore Overview

In 1998, Ullal Charitable Trust established the Mangalore College of Nursing. The founder of the institution was Dr.Ramachandra Ullal. He had completed his MBBS from Stanley Medical College. The main aim of the Trust was to impart quality education to poor and weaker sections of society. An esteemed group of intellectuals has been running the institution, who has a decade of experience in the field of education and healthcare.

Mangalore College of Nursing, Mangalore is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS). It is also recognized by Indian Nursing Council (INC) and the Karnataka State Nursing Council (KSNC).

Mangalore is a picturesque coastal city in the southernmost part of Karnataka, which borders Kerala. It is a well-known hub of educational institutions. The college is located at Door no, # 14-76/46, T.C.Road, Permaur, Near St. Sebastian Church, Ullal, Mangalore-575020.

 

Courses Offered 

The college offers various courses for students at various levels. Bachelor of Science in Nursing or B.Sc. Nursing, Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (P.B.B.Sc.) and General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM).

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing)

Nursing plays a vital role in our healthcare system. It includes promoting good health, disease prevention, care of illness, and promoting a healthy lifestyle for individuals of all age groups, families, groups, and communities, in different settings.

Nurses take care of people whether they are sick or well. They suggest the opinions on one’s health status by accessing the medical records and assist the patient’s full recovery. It is a growing profession with lots of job opportunities in India and abroad.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing or B.Sc. Nursing is a course offered at the level of undergraduate. The duration of the course is for four years which includes six months of internship. It is a basic degree required for working in India and abroad.

Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (P.B.B.Sc)

Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing is also called P.B.B.Sc. It is a course for a duration for a period of two years. It is taken by students who are interested in the nursing field. Nurses are trained professionals who are in charge of taking care of the patients, treating them,g and assisting the doctors. The course acts as a bridge course for GNM courses for improving their nursing skills through intense and advanced training at hospitals.

General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM)

GNM or General Nursing and Midwifery is a diploma course for a duration of three and half years. This course is suitable for students who want to get a job faster.

Eligibility

Eligibility criteria for Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) are:

  1. The candidate must have passed 12th Standard/II PUC or an equivalent examination from a recognized board.
  2. Must have passed with a minimum aggregate score of fifty percent in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB). The aggregate score for the same is forty percent for the reserved category.
  3. The minimum age must be seventeen years as of the 31st of December on the year of admissions.
  4. Getting admissions to colleges is based on merit.
  5. Admissions for foreign nationals and NRI are based on the previous examination.
  6. Applications are available from April onwards and selection takes place from the months of June To August.
  7. Admissions take place in the month of September.

Eligibility Criteria for Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing is:

  1. Candidates must have passed General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) after completing 10 +2 or any equivalent from any recognized board.
  2. Must have work experience after completing GNM.
  3. The age limit is forty-eight years on the year of admissions.
  4. Admissions to the course are based on merit.
  5. Application forms are available from the month of April and Selection takes place in the months of June to August. Admissions to the course happen in the month of September.

Eligibility criteria for General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) are:

  1. Candidates must have passed 10+2 or PUC or any other equivalent examination.
  2. Must score minimum marks of forty percent in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with the English language.
  3. Candidate must be seventeen years of age as of 31st December on the year of joining.
  4. Admissions are based on merit basis.
  5. Application forms are available from the month of April. The selection procedure takes place during the months of June to August. Admission to the course takes place in the month of September.

Documents required

At the time of admissions, the documents required for B.Sc Nursing are: Original documents with two sets of photocopies must be brought at the time of admissions.

  1. 10th and 12th Standard Mark sheet.
  2. Transfer Certificate.
  3. Migration Certificate.
  4. School Leaving Certificate.
  5. Caste Certificate (if applicable).
  6. Identification Proof (Voter ID/PAN/Aadhar/Passport).
  7. Certificate of Physical Fitness.
  8. Six passport-size photos and two stamp-size photos.
  9. Conduct Certificate from the last institution attended.
  10. DD of Rs 1000/- for application fee in the name of Mangalore College of Nursing, payable at Mangalore or paid in cash.
  11. Selected non-Karnataka candidates must have an eligibility certificate issued by RGUHS.

The documents required for Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing is:

Original documents with two sets of photocopies to be produced at the time of taking admissions.

  1. 10th Standard mark sheet.
  2. 12th Standard/PUC Mark sheet.
  3. Passing Certificate of General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM).
  4. Year-wise Mark sheet of GNM.
  5. College Leaving Certificate.
  6. Transfer Certificate.
  7. Conduct Certificate.
  8. Physical Fitness Certificate.
  9. Must have good knowledge of English.
  10. Proof of Identity (Voter ID/Pan Card/Passport/Aadhar Card).
  11. DD of Rs 1000/-must is paid towards the application fee, in favor of Mangalore College of Nursing. Payable at Mangalore or pay in cash.
  12. Candidates from non-Karnataka states must have a Registration Certificate of GNM.
  13. Non-Karnataka Candidates must obtain a Certificate of Eligibility from RGUHS.
  14. Six passport-size photos and two stamp-size photos.

Original documents with attested photocopies in three sets must be produced at the time of getting admission. The documents required for GNM are:

  1. 10th Standard Mark sheet.
  2. 12th Standard/PUC Marks Sheet.
  3. Transfer Certificate.
  4. Conduct Certificate.
  5. Physical Fitness Certificate.
  6. Proof of Identity (Voter ID/Aadhar).
  7. DD of Rs 1000/- for application fees in favor of Mangalore College of Nursing, payable at Mangalore or make cash payment.
  8. Certificate of Migration.
  9. Six passport Size Photos and two stamp-size photos.
