Eligibility for BDS

  • The candidate must meet the age requirement of 17 at the time of admission or before the end of the admission year on December 31.
  • He or she must be in good health to enrol in the programme and practise dentistry.
  • Must possess a passing score on the Karnataka II PUC exam or a comparable test from the CBSE, ICSE, or state boards, with English as one of the languages and Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as optional subjects.
  • Must have earned 50% in these three disciplines together with English. However, the minimum score required for applicants from Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes is 40%.
  • The National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (NEET), administered by the National Board of Examinations, will be the basis for admission to the programme.

Orthodontics & Dentofacial Orthopaedics 

  • Headed by Dr Gautham B, the department is driven by a vision that seeks to promote an optimum culture of learning that is equally aided by theory and practical sessions to acquaint them with the fundamentals of contemporary dental sciences. 
  • It is spread over 6000 sq ft including clinical laboratories for both undergraduate and postgraduate students, Wi-Fi, a library, as well as a sterilisation room.

  • Some of the common treatments availed of are Silver Amalgam restorations, Inlays, Single Crowns, and much more. The department is also responsible for post-endodontic rehabilitation of various teeth anomalies. 
  • Head by Dr KC Ponnappa, the department works towards the vision wherein the faculty members persistently create a friendly environment to make their treatments available for patients coming from varied cultural and economic backgrounds. Incorporating newer technologies and inducing an aptitude for research in students are the goals they set for themselves. 

Periodontology

  • All the while providing didactic and clinical training, the department’s vision is to undertake comprehensive training programmes for UG and PG level students with the highest regard for ethical standards in patient care.

  • The department has the necessary equipment for screening for oral cancer. This along with treatments for the management of malignant disorders, temporomandibular conditions, and much more. It also has the facilities for imaging, digital OPG, etc. 

Oral Pathology and Microbiology

  • Under the able supervision of Dr Shashidara R, the faculty team has been working towards educating students to learn the methods of critical analysis and problem-based learning beyond academic learning to develop a rational mind. 
  • The department has been around since 2006 and has brought significant fame to the college. This has been possible because of the excellent infrastructure. This is one of the rare departments to have a biochemical analyser. This department has three divisions working together namely, the haematology division, histopathology division, and microbiology division. 

Paedodontics

  • Professor and head of the department, Dr Shanthala BM, is one of the star faculty members of the college. She has presented multiple papers at international conferences along with being a guest speaker at International Conference and Exhibition in Dentistry and Oral Care, Dubai.
