The Library of Dr Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College was established in 2002 at the time of the college’s inception. It has a computerised information system. All the functions of the library are activated automatically. Auto Lib software system is used for the computerization of the library. The central library is an open-access system. It is adjacent to the Medical College & Hospital. This is easily accessible to the departments, classrooms, hostels, and staff residences. The library is a three-storied building and it occupies a total area of about 1316.98 square metres. It is one of the biggest Medical college libraries in India. The Central Library is attached to 23 departmental libraries of the Medical College.
Hostel Facilities
For UG students and interns, there are separate hostels for boys and girls. UG male students have 55 two-bedded rooms and 66 three-bedded rooms (Total beds – 308) and female students have 100 two-bedded rooms and 33 three-bedded rooms (Total beds – 305). Also, the boy-interns have 50 two-bedded rooms and the girl-interns have 58 two-bedded rooms. All these rooms are air-conditioned and well-decorated with sufficient pieces of furniture.
Faculty Accommodation
For P.G. students Dr Somervell Memorial CSI Medical College offers accommodation for a total of 100 residents. There is a separate accommodation facility for the faculty too.
